Regional news sources April 13, 2010

The Lansing area has quite a few good news sources that you can look to for information about development projects and other happenings around town.

My favorite places to look are:

Also, the newspapers tend to trail project updates by a day or two, so if you want bleeding edge information, you can check the city council agendas/minutes. This is also another way to get some more renderings & site plans of projects that might not be published.

Lansing development stars: Where are they now? is an article that was just published this week in the Lansing City Pulse. The article covers some of the projects that have been announced in the past year or so and what has become of them. Here’s the quote from the article:

For the moment, announcements are pretty exciting. Just check out the message boards at www.develop.metrolansing.com for all the development ogling you can handle.

It’s nice to get a mention in the paper. This is the second time that Develop has been mentioned in the City Pulse. If you’ve come to the website from the City Pulse article, I’d recommend that you take a stop by the forums (that’s where most of the activity is). There’s also lots of valuable information in the project pages.

Today was a great day for MSU and the state of Michigan. The Department of Energy has decided on Michigan State University for the $550 million Facility for Rare Isotope Beams. This project will bring $1 billion of economic growth to the area along with 400 research jobs and 5800 construction jobs. MSU was chosen ahead of Argonne National Research lab in Illinois.

Cheers to MSU!

For more information, you can take a look at the discussion in the forums or read the press release from MSU.
