  • An artical about the new housing proposed for the Student Bookstore space on Grand River Ave is on LSJ.com. The depiction looks nice, and it is great that the owners of the bookstore are involved in this development. I think this will help to get a quality building built. Of course, I remember when that building was the Campus Theater. I saw so many really famous movies there. I did think it was a strange development when the bookstore stopped selling books.
  • Any renderings to post of the SBS development? Also, is the Tareen development completely canceled or being reworked to be re-sent to city council?
  • See page 129 on the planning commission agenda for renderings of the SBS development. Also, welcome to the forum beardsandtanks!
  • Yes, welcome to the forum! I believe there was a quote from the developer or someone associated with the Tareen development saying that they would resubmit their proposal after some changes, I don't think there was any indication as to what those changes would be or what the timeline is.
  • Lo, I took some screenshots.

  • I like that this building which looks to have a similar lay out as the Landmark building but looks quite different, higher quality exterior treatments give the building a nice look, at least in the depiction.
  • Very minor comment, but sign people removing the "PNC Bank" sign from Midtown Apartments today. The branch is gone from the PNC website as well, though I don't know when it actually closed.

Always thought it a rather odd place for a tiny bank branch. Wonder what shall replace it.
  • I noticed that work as well, there are a lot of small banks here, I wonder who uses them sometimes. Also right in that area, crews were renovating the old Bigbie's coffee shop to the west of the Midtown building. Also, on the "East Side" up at Michigan Ave and Horton [check out google maps at street level it goes from nasty old 2021 Michigan Ave to the new 2025"pretty" street} the long vacant pot shop is being remolded into another one of those liquor stores with the similar large signs that seem to be filling vacant spaces all over town including East Lansing. It is kind of amazing to me after living out in Mass. where liquor "Party Stores" or "Packies" in Mass. are far fewer, some towns don't even have them, how many places you can by liquor in Michigan. There are five stores that sell beer and liquor, and maybe a dozen or more bars clubs and restaurants that sell booze within two blocks of my building, I never worry about running out!
