Wow thanks for the detailed research! I hadn't seen the Urban Design Guidelines before. Is there an "existing blockface" for a development like Park District where it encompasses the entire block?

Yeah growing up in East Lansing I just assumed all cities were like that but over time I've found out the hard way (through blank stares mainly) that other cities will approve most projects administratively.

He's calling his development Park Place. Close enough to be confusing I agree. I think the idea is that this part of downtown would be called the Park District though.

Also, if they really want to break ground by March 2019, then I can't imagine them asking for any public money. The hold up might be the city wanting more money for the Evergreen properties than Vlahakis is willing to pay.

It's possible city staff want the frontage to be more uniform. But I bet the developers of Center City would have liked a couple more feet themselves.

@ratchetwrench, as I understand it, the STEM building is actually part of the College of Education so it's not that far from their main buliding (at the corner of Shaw and Farm Lane, opposite side of the International Center).

The parkland proposals seem directly related to the sale of the Farmer's Market. Isn't that on parkland? I think this is a defensive maneuver after the mayor said that he wanted to sell it.
