  • I personally like the Georgios across from BW3 better, but yeah it's sad to lose the local and independent businesses. Hopefully it can reopen in the new building or move to another location on Grand River.
  • Looks like there's a few more things that need to get approved, such as the condominium agreement, with possibility that the city could back out if they disagree with the financials of the project. But otherwise, this looks like it's going to move f…
  • Okay, the typo makes much more sense I used to live in Hubbard Hall and we would go up to the top floor and look out of the windows there. You can really see the whole east side of the region from the top floor. All the way out to the lights fro…
  • This project is working with city land or an existing distressed project. The project is working with the 7-11 and possibly the Georgio's Pizza next door. Neither of these properties are city-owned or distressed, which tells me that this pro…
  • I don't fault people for wanting to cross there. The alternative is to walk about two blocks to the corner, cross, then walk the two blocks back. Almost a half-mile of walking for no apparent gain besides safety, which isn't perfect either consideri…
  • Great, thanks for posting this! I have pretty high confidence that this will proceed. Core Campus has already developed many projects like this in other college towns, and they have already been able to lead a change in the zoning ordinances so this…
  • I agree with MichMatters. The state has been cutting funding and it's evident through the need for neighboring municipalities to have to merge city services. What may seem like a cheap cost to have someone maintain the parks is actually more cost…
  • No worries I think it happened to me when I changed my notification settings. I might be able to go in to the database and fix it manually, just need to let it get high enough on my bucket list first :P
  • I've stopped getting emails for new posts. I'm curious if this is specific to my account or have other people been noticing a lack of emails for new posts too? The last one I got was on May 19th.
  • @Ponceybaby I'm not sure who you're replying to when you say "you are right". Lansing can't sustain some of the development that you're asking for. It's not a small town mentality it's simple facts when you look at population changes, job growth, a…
  • @sabatoa I think you might be confusing this tower with the smoke stack that has the giant lugnut on the top of it, which is much more iconic and shows up in almost every skyline picture of Lansing. I just did a Google image search and couldn't find…
  • Thanks for the picture. I know it's already partially dismantled but this picture shows how brutalist that watch tower was. I'm glad to see it go. I only wish the new clock tower was 50 feet taller.
  • Thanks! Yeah, it's awesome to have a community of like-minded people to chat with. My pleasure
  • I have just updated the website to the latest version (2.3.1), which was released on May 11th. Please let me know if you notice any issues with the website, however this is a minor security fix and there should be no functional or noticeable changes…
  • Yeah, the alley between the parking lot and the buildings is staying. The other business owners need the alleys for product deliveries.
  • Depending on how they build it there may not be any inward facing apartments. They could put the hallways along the alley and each apartment could run the length of the building.
  • Here's a link to the story, http://www.lansingstatejournal.com/story/news/local/2017/05/01/school-blind-project-date-set/101023694/ The article says construction will start July 3rd. Construction of its first phase, a $12.5 million developm…
  • Yeah the most recent vote acts as a recommendation for/against but the city council has ignored the planning commission before.
  • Having Target onboard makes the project seem much more realistic, and it gives people something tangential to hold on to. Without the project, I don't see Target adding another location in the area.
  • The proposal failed to pass in front of the planning commission last night, on a 4-4 split vote. The planning commission's vote is a recommendation to council, not literally blocking the project. The project will have a public hearing in front of th…
