I don't think Park District is totally dead. I think they're working on a new approach, maybe scaled down. If Red Cedar also were under construction you would see construction all along CATA Route 1

I think they were also very happy that no TIF money is involved here. It makes them look good and doesn't directly cost the city any money.

The site plan was approved for this project. The new building will house 347 apartments and 585 beds. Its site plan and special use permit were unanimously approved by the East Lansing City Council in a special meeting Tuesday evening. …

Yeah, I don't think the self storage business is expanding at a rapid pace, but as people's incomes decrease or stagnate some people have been forced to downsize their residence but have a hard time letting go of items. I think that's where some of …

Thank you for posting the update here, I hadn't seen it published elsewhere and didn't know the outcome.

Yeah I remember hearing that a gravel parking lot was part of the temporary plan.

I was disappointed that Rory Neuner was absent from the Planning Commission meeting that night. She seems pretty progressive and forward thinking about bike advocacy and I think she would have approved this because this development pushes students t…

Bernero has selected a developer, Beitler Real Estate Services, to redevelop city hall. City Hall would move to the old LSJ headquarters (the LSJ moved in to the Knapps building in January 2016). http://www.lansingstatejournal.com/story/news/loca…

$2 million is a lot of money. We built Ranney Skate Park for $400,000 around 2002. With $2 million we could probably build 4-5 parks/attractions like the skate park.

Yeah honestly I'm expecting more strip malls and possibly a suburban apartment complex or a big box retailer. Pretty sad to lose all that green space to what will probably become a parking lot (East Lansing just did this for Costco )

That's great! Do we know why there were 23 open spots?

From the article, "Before the office, many Deloitte employees were housed within state buildings, working alongside State of Michigan clients on IT and consulting projects." Also https://www2.deloitte.com/us/en/footerlinks/office-locator/michigan…

Worth noting that East Lansing passed form-based zoning code for this area. I think this may be the first development that will be based on it.

Yeah, I'm not too worried about this development. The developers aren't asking for a large brownfield credit (that I can remember) and the developers aren't asking the city to build/own a parking garage. This development should move along quickly li…

The article says that the building was built for $2.5 million. Converting that to 2017 dollars using the CPI calculator brings it to about $21 million which is about what I would expect for the same building today. I was surprised at how much inflat…

Back when they lowered the Farm Lane crossings they said that they couldn't do the same on Hagadorn because it would negatively effect Hannah Plaza too much. I do agree though that lowering the grade here would be in (almost) everyone's best interes…

Yeah looks like a Michigan left to me.

Yeah, I know that. But this is the type of re-use that we need. In addition, we could have new builds that match this same style.

Wow this is really high quality in-fill! This is exactly the types of development that I hope to see spread throughout the city. I would rather have many more of these than a couple high rises. First we should fill in with these and then limit the t…
