It's been curious to see that Michigan State hasn't had much of a presence in downtown Lansing. They have a presence in Detroit. I wonder if they have just tried to leave Lansing to Cooley and LCC. They put up the MSU signs on the lightposts along M…

Thank you!

Yeah, clicking on an ad helps but clicks have to be "real". If people click on them just to give money to the site, Google will start to notice unusual patterns and doesn't pay for them.

That's not good news for Cooley but it was forseeable. I think the good news out of it is that they are choosing to keep Lansing as their headquarters.

Yeah I can put up a PayPal donation link. Thanks I'll try to do that later today

Cool, good to hear. They don't bring in much money at all though. At least on impressions alone, they bring in about $0.05 per day. I think they would be more profitable if people clicked on them, but they aren't always that relevant.

I don't think so. I think the best we can do is lock the thread and point people to the original thread. I'll lock it now.

I got the feeling that this pretty much died when Virg left office without a deal signed. It seemed it was something he was pushing for hard and Mayor Andy hasn't made it a priority. Now with Covid this is really dead considering governments are str…

Thanks, I've considered a membership model but I wasn't sure how much work that would require for me to set it up. If the ads don't work out or are just too annoying we can try that.

East Lansing is removing the outdoor dining area on Albert Ave and reopening the street to cars today. This was reported by WLNS: https://www.wlns.com/news/local-news/east-lansing-closes-outdoor-dining-area/ I don't understand the rush he…

Thanks, that means a lot to me. I feel that there is a great community here of like-minded and respectful discussion. I do wish the ads were a little more contextual, but maybe it will get better with time? 🤷♂️

Starting today I have added ads to the side of the website beneath the sidebar on the full website view and on the mobile view between every other comment. These ads will help pay the bills for running the site, which I have paid out of my own pocke…

Oh okay, I guess I had forgotten that had been approved. The units on the ground floor are also nice as barrier free units. Even though the building has elevators, not having to ride one would be a lot nicer for someone who has reduced mobility.

I really like the idea of the fitness center in 300 West Grand River. DTN had been struggling to find a retail occupant and at one point I believe they requested to change over the retail to residential which got denied. Even though I'd like it to b…

Georgio's Pizza is now open, after closing for 2 years for construction of The Hub and then delaying their opening due to covid-19. This now means that the Hub has all storefronts occupied (the other being 7-11 which has been open for some time). EL…

I forgot to reply about the FitLot north of Rotary Park. That is really awesome to see. I hope that is just the start and we see more of these get put in neighborhood parks. It is great for providing a free exercise area as well as getting neighbors…

Wow that's really good digging you did there. Thanks for the background, I read up on those minutes you posted. I wonder how much he was charging for the cups of ice for it to be worth the trouble. I guess people also buy other things while at the s…

Wow that's a pretty sizable townhome development. Google Maps Streetview has some good pictures of it under construction from August 2019 as well as pictures that show the single house that was on the property before this. That transformation will s…

I am really happy with the choices that were made to fill the vacant council seats. The new members are well qualified and have plenty of community experience. I am also excited about the prospect of a larger city council. I hope that East Lansing c…

I saw on the planning commission agenda that a Walgreens is planning to locate in the Abbot.
