That's great news for Detroit. I was just at Campus Martius a couple weeks ago and saw the surface parking lot where the building will be built. Congratulations Detroit.

Here is the image of the new design, if you can't use a PDF viewer:

The LSJ just reported on the plans for the Marriott Resident Inn. It will replace the current Residence Inn just east of Hagadorn Rd, and would be five stories with a restaurant on the ground floor, but no other retail it seems. Also, with undergr…

It looks like they are starting phase 2, as an LSJ blurb says that northbound on Hillcrest Ave will be closed starting now until mid-February.

That is interesting. Where did you see that LMich? Could the Residence Inn be part of the large building on the corner, or the rowhouses along Hillcrest?

Not-so-funny coincidence for MSU students who live north of Lake Lansing in one of the many apartment complexes in that direction. Construction will start on January 7th, the first day of classes, to begin widening Abbot Road north of Lake Lansing.…

It seems just too far out in the middle of nowhere. Almost like previous outlet malls, except this one will have many vacant apartments to go along with vacant storefronts.

Those first pictures look like you used a wide angle lens. Nice job capturing the building. I also am awaiting the neon "Stadium District" sign.

Did anybody else notice the lack of diversity in the pictures with the people in them? Any idea on a timeline?

Thanks for the images hood. I've driven by the site many times and the sign out front says "Opening Spring 2008". It has obviously been pushed back, but it's good to see that there is progress being made. It looks like it will be a mix of retail …

I really didn't expect this, but the building next to Quality Dairy at Harrison & Michigan Ave is completely torn down. Here is a picture of what it used to look like:

Here is a picture of the progress of the MSUFCU headquarters off of Coolidge Rd in East Lansing. The photo is from Capital Gains Media.

I don't think it is just the developer getting excited, but the municipality who wants to make a good news story for the press. The city governments and planning departments may want to announce good news for their own agendas, which may be on an u…

Here are two items from the New York Times today about Detroit. First is an article: Detroit Revival Vies With Industry’s Decline Second is a slideshow: "In Detroit, Bad Timing for a Renaissance" They talk about how Detroit is trying to mov…

I really wish both of these companies would move to urban areas though, that would really show a loyalty to the Lansing/East Lansing area and help out other businesses at the same time.

yeah, I'd say it is moving forward, it's just being kept somewhat quiet right now while the city is trying to acquire additional real estate. I would still say that the previous site plan with many buildings and parking structure is the current sit…

Here is a recent picture of the building:

I know MSU paused on the demolition for a month to make sure that they had all historical documentation that they would ever want for the building. You will probably be able to get a copy from the University Archives.

Along with the this update, I found two new renderings. Here they are:

Here's the website for the project: Albert Place Condominiums. It's officially called "Albert Place Condominiums".
