  • Looks good. It's always nice to hear of another unused piece of land being developed. The renderings would be nice to see, but I wouldn't get too attached to them, as they will most definitely change with the market. The next step is to work on g…
  • Well, the demolition hasn't been delayed, and will start once the semester ends (December 17). The building should be fully demolished by January 4th. Here is a link for more information: MSU Construction Alerts: Paolucci demolition
  • I went by the Paolucci building today and it was fenced off. It looks like they may be starting demolition pretty soon. I still haven't heard what design was chosen, but I remember hearing that a design was to be chosen by September.
  • I updated the project page.
  • More development is coming on Coleman Rd in East Lansing. From next weeks city council agenda: Introduce Ordinance No. 1183 and refer to the Planning Commission an ordinance to rezone the property at 3203, 3303 and 3341 Coleman Road, including…
  • From Tim Dempsey: The city continues to work on feasibility of the project, including ongoing discussions with MSU regarding the museum. Its possible we may have a site plan ready in early 2008. No demolition is planned for 2007. It doesn'…
  • The steel has started to go up on the second building, while the first building appears to have all the steel done for the first floor. Some wooden staircases have been built that go up to the second floor on the first building.
  • Yeah, I agree that was a bad example. It looks too cartoony to me, but I would like to see a bandshell built, which could be a lot more modern looking than the picture I posted.
  • You know how great it would be to see a bandshell built. Bandshells transfer the sound a lot better than this flat stage. The roof and the back half of the shell protect musicians from the elements and reflect sound through the the open side and o…
  • Thats good news that they will be starting phase two pretty soon. I don't expect the bigger condo building to be started until phase two is completed, and probably then there will still be market studies. I was starting to think that phase 2 would…
  • My guess/hope is that it will be built with it's back to Shiawasee, much in the same location that the main stage for Common Ground is. This way it doesn't obstruct the riverfront.
  • I read about this earlier. This is great news. So much of the problems that Detroit faces has to do with the suburbanization of the metro area and the lack of dependence on the central city. The more economic value that Detroit has, the better f…
  • MSU is planning another development. This time it is an indoor gun/archery range. The range will be one of the best shooting sports facilities in North America and one of the largest indoor facilities in the Midwest. This may draw some more touri…
  • Just as a followup, the gas station proposed by Meijer got denied again at today's city council meeting.
  • It looks like the numbered units will be the first phase:
  • There was an article with the owner of the Baskin Robbins across the street from the East Village. He was talking about how he thought the East Village was a pipe dream that would never happen. I believe right now they are still in the property ac…
  • Since we're on the topic of other developments around Michigan. Here is the proposal for the Secchia Center in Grand Rapids that MSU is building for its new west campus Medical School.
  • Does anybody know when the second phase (the rowhouses along Hillcrest) will be started? There is grass planted there too.
  • Here is a picture of the site to put it into perspective: I measured the width of the parking lot with Google Maps and the Kalamazoo lot is ~200 ft, while the Stadium District lot is ~400 ft.
  • I might try to go to the event since it's between my classes. If I go I will try and bring a camera. Anybody else planning on going, or might be able to get renderings?
