Speaking of trails, I noticed a trailhead had been freshly laid at the road entrance to Evergreen Cemetery the other day. Anyone know anything aout this? Are they going to lay a trail through the cemetery? I'm there quite often, and a lot of folks w…

Yeah, especially since COVID, it seems the concept of "ground floor commercial space" is mostly dead when we're talking about apartment buildings. They were having hard times leasing space before then. But now you don't even hear it broached.

It's weird, the September 9th council packet shows "no attachment files" when they did the presentation for both of these. And the most D&P meeting doesn't have any actual drawings on it either. But the media somehow gets them? lol

You all mentioned some renderings of the two affordable apartment buildings being constructed down in Cherry Hill, and I was curious if anyone knows who the architects are, or were the designs done in-house of the developers of these properties?

Yeah, the local history librarian at CADL had debunked the tale years ago, and I think WKAR did a story on it at the time. I guess the LSJ is just catching up on it. Anyway, the tall tale was actually meant to be inspiring, basically that a group…

From 1999-2002, the RE Olds Transportation Museum had a sister museum on Michigan Avenue where the Tin Can (and neighboring building) is called the Oldsmobile Heritage Center. Really nice museum. As with everything else cultural in Lansing, it wasn'…

Oh, on the land division amendements proposal, something that's been irking me just a bit are lot minimum widths for single-family homes in particular. I support getting rid of the general minimum for the district mins, but I do take issue a bit wit…

So, we did have (gallery and cultural center) that as recently as 2004 when Boarshead closed. It was the Lansing Center for the Arts & Boardshead Theater complex where they are building the new housing. They've been trying for something like thi…

On that last part, that basically answers my question. If there is no other justification than want of privacy, then there isn't really a justification for keeping this stuff behind a wall. I guess that's something to be brought up with city council…

The Michigan Avenue redo is the worst bait-and-switch I've seen in a long time. It should have been illegal to keep up those schematics on their website if this is ultimately what they ultimately didn't contract for. A larger sidewalk is nice, yes; …

@hood, Your friend was close. CATA announced they will be buying the old Greyhound bus station on Washington a block south of the CTC for their headquarters...which is fitting. lol How they describe it in such grand terms has me a bit confused, a…

Ostensibly, they said it was because the Lieberman Building on Washington wasn't accessible enough. And that was true enough. The central staircase was awkward for the upstairs/mezzanine. In fact, they got a MEDC grant to help with the move. But eve…

@citykid, I noticed the commercial plan review is occurring for the Hillsdale Place townhomes at Hillsdale and MLK. On on the BS&A website, there is a "view" hyperlink. But I've always wondered why this stuff is not publicly available when yo…

Too many dedicated public dollars (local and state) involved for it not to happen, but I don't understand the construction date. I am happy to hear about Albert Kahn, though. Definitely a step above kitschy, low-budget Studio Intrigue-type of design…

No worries!

Yes, it's what we've been talking about in the thread since Tuesday. Looks at Hood's post detailing all of this near the top of the page.

I'm looking at it, now, and it is a bit much. lol I didn't realize it was going to look quite that crowded. Actually, it looks like only the Lansing and East Lansing threads are currently not working for me. The others are staying stickied. Perha…

I like brick; these buildings needn't look temporary and slapped together like so many of them do, these days.

Fortunately, county road commissions have jursidction over township roads, so the township wouldn't have been involved either way. Looks like the conversion of Allegan and Ottawa is happening, now, without waiting for MLK: https://x.com/MI_TCR…

I don't mind, though, I'm still having the issue where the stickies aren't really working. It's showing me the threads are stickied, but if anyone else replies to a non-sticked thread, they replace it in the page order.
