The drain commissioner has an article in the City Pulse talking about the Montgomery Drain project and the Red Cedar project in a very matter of fact manner. The start date in now "next year" so maybe soon! It is reassuring to hear this is all movin…

In yea! they repaved this street news, they finally repaved the really bad sections of Moorse River Drive by Frances Park! Just a small area was paved but it's really great to see some of these streets getting some attention. I have only been back h…

Hey Ratchet! Where are you talking about!} I saw the surveyors on the REOTOWN sign lot. There was talk about a whole block redevelopment of the St. Joe. site[kitty-corner] a while ago but nothing beyond some drawings has happened

There is a Stadium District thread where you can post about this area.

I saw surveyors on that site on Monday, I hope that means "something". It would be nice if the hotel and substation could be built and finished during the same time frame.

I am sure that most people who read this would know, but I just subscribed to the archives site of the Lansing State Journal. I was looking for stories about my older brother, he was a great athlete at Sexton in the early 60's. On the site you can l…

I saw people setting up what look to be construction office type trailers on the Old Fisher Body site at Michigan and Clare behind Sexton. I hope this means some sort of action taking place here. The new building on St Joe. has really gone up fast a…

Yes I saw them too. I was wondering if the hotel is really going in there? That would be really great to see this happening. Across the street, you can see the new "Sunken Garden's" wall from the river trail behind Fountain Place. It will be "OK" bu…

Looks pretty good. It looks like the black top contractor did pretty well, lots of parking!

You put it very well. I was reacting to the story as it seemed to be a done deal, and at least they were planning to use the current building. I was looking at the LSJ building just yesterday, and there really is not much to it, other than a nice sa…

I agree that LED lights are good for lighting streets more brightly, I can see some of them on Elm Street, what I like about them is there is no light going up, over the lamp. When it was snowing the other night it was totally black above the lights…

I have lived in REO-town for a couple of years and even in that short time the neighborhood has really change for the better. You are right the near south side of Lansing is a unique area of residential and industrial neighborhoods which are still m…

On the rent issue, to me it would be better to have a full building that charges an affordable rent that have a half empty building that has higher rents. $500 up to $1,200 is about what rents should be around that area. It would be a good idea to h…

I am very happy they are choosing to keep the current City Hall building. It is going to be so cool to see that corner come alive. I agree that the Mid-Century modern look should be a part of the rooms and public spaces. It will be interesting to s…

I was very happy to see so many new trees are being planted all over downtown and through our parks, even in parks that have a lot of trees already like Moores Park and Potter Park. Also in the good news for your car, N. Washington Ave has been repa…

I am hoping that these funds could be matched or added too with money from the county parks and trails tax funds. I think that the river trail and river front are good as they are but some investments in the infrastructure and just general appearanc…

There a story about the private/public plans for the downtown riverfront on LSJ.com. They used ideas from the "Penny for you thoughts" campaign. It sounds very exciting and will really make our river front a great asset to Downtown.
-
Great, thank you! If they can see over 496 this building could have some good downtown skyline views.

I have yet to hear about the Jackson National plans for downtown river front improvements. I just saw this "tune in at 11" short story saying they were having a meeting. I did not tune in at 11 so I missed it.

lsj.com says they are closing the parking lot Monday and demolition will begin soon after that. It isn't Monday yet, but it looks like this is going to happen. The developer spoke very well of the E.L. government!
