It is a big building for any city, but it looks monumental on that spot on Michigan Ave. I am hoping that the parking structure will have a finish of some sort and is not going to be exposed cement that dominates the VUE right now.

REO made a lot of trucks and other vehicles and motors for the war effort. I can remember the Vietnam era trucks lined up outside at Washington Ave and Baker St. It was pointed out on this war effort page that the little building on S. Washington th…

I just "found a cool page" The American Auto Industry in World War Two by google-ing of course. You can click on any company and there are photos and information about the war effort. Lansing made lots of big guns for tanks and PT boats. There are s…

My Dad worked at the Fisher Body for awhile before being drafted. It seems like the Olds plant made something else beside artillery shells. We had an "ashtray" made out of one of those shells that sat in our phone nook. It weighted about ten pounds …

That is a cool looking thing. I don't believe I have ever seen a water storage tower like this one. I saw this tower in one of the other photos, it shows this tower and a smoke stack that says City on the side. Is the "city" smoke stack the same one…

The steel frame seems to be up and they are starting to apply the glass on the lower floors. I think this will be a beautiful building, it just too bad that the parking ramp hides it from Michigan Ave. The new cafeteria also seem to be near finished…

This is very nice. I do remember when the old Y was the only one, LCC held some of their Phys.Ed. classes their before they had their own facilities. The "weights room" was through a short door in the side of the shower room, it was actually a windo…

Great, at least it seems like it is still going to happen. Yesterday while driving by the Capitol I noticed they installed the new replica street lamps in front on Capitol Ave. at Michigan Ave. Wow they are so cool, I don't think I have ever seen s…

I believe there is another nice looking pumping station next to the Larch Street overpass on the North side. I agree that the REOtown BWL is a nice looking building. They still seem to have an idea of design and pride in the new public facilities …

Of course it does look better than the industrial wasteland that was there before, I think they could just take better care of the area and the fish ladder itself. It would not be very expensive to dig out the weeds and power wash the cement.

This photo show the pride Lansing took in it's civic facilities, building beautiful buildings for things like pump houses and transformers. That area today looks neglected, the cement fish ladder is stained and dirty there is bad graffiti art painte…

I was wondering about the "under the bridge project" on Michigan Ave by Frandor. Spring 2016 has passed and I have seen no action there.

Thanks for the investigation into the Black Warehouse. I really like hearing it a owned by a clothing maker, and not a MMJ grow center! Maybe they will be bringing people and jobs to the neighborhood soon.

I would agree the this photo is facing west. Perhaps they are building the Shiawassee Street bridge. I think that Cedar Street crosses the foreground and that perhaps the dark building on the corner of Cedar and Shiawassee could be still there, [cur…

I have been curious about the old warehouse on Kalamazoo, by the tracks now repainted even blacker. It seems very secretive, but I did see the the overhead door open a bit the other day. I noticed fresh unpainted drywall and that was it. I have been…

Thanks for posting any old Lansing photos. I really love to just look at them and pick out details that are in my memory, and before. I don't know why but I have always found photos like these so interesting. I am always drawn to the big aerial phot…

The master plan is a lot to take in, thanks for providing answers to my questions, even though they seem obvious, or I might seem uninformed. My brother lived in Spartan Village while going to vet. school in the 60's. That place was packed with s…

It will be nice to have the surface lot removed, and maybe then the law makers will get some exercise when they have to walk a bit further to get to their car. I have read that exercise helps brain function}. The plans for the visitor center could l…

I noticed the photo with the smoke stacks and view of downtown is no longer on your photo page. That is the one I think was taken from Hill street.

I guess I am confused [easily done] I thought you were talking about the building that would become Davenport U. you can see that building from the skyline shot which must have been taken from a water tower across the river from perhaps from the Hil…
