Paving in 2009? Where? Maybe they did a quick and dirty coat of pavement over the badly dilapidated part of Washington south of Lenawee but it's not in great shape now and more importantly the look of the street is surely hurting development prospec…

It's getting pretty close to the time they were expecting to start work on this and we still haven't seen a final design. I'm really, really hoping they came up with something different that is at least halfway decent. I also hope they're planning o…

@MichMatters As far as I can tell all the units in that site plan are on either Landbank or developer owned land, the site plan just doesn't show them using all the available land. @gbdinlansing You're talking about the small building on the Lake…
-
The yellow appear to be landbank and the green look like they're owned by different entities, I assume related to the redevelopment effort. What I'm not sure about are the orange properties, they appear to be owned by the same entities that own the …

I'm also pretty surprised at the scale of the proposed Hepler development. The site plan is hard to read but I'm seeing it as tearing down all the houses on Quaker Ct, filling up the vacant lots on Park Terrace while maybe taking out a few more hous…

Found this page with a little bit of info on the merger: https://www.uofmhealth.org/sparrow How independent Sparrow will remain isn't clear but they do say the the Sparrow Foundation will remain separate, that the Sparrow name will not be going …

Whoever they were working with one this site has chosen another location: https://www.lansingstatejournal.com/story/news/local/2023/02/16/lansing-area-megasite-buyer-went-elsewhere-local-official-says/69909994007/

This is incredibly welcome news: Apparently the city has settled on a plan to revamp Michigan Ave, they'd add separated bicycle lanes and reduce eastbound traffic to one lane. Work is expected to cost $11.4 million and begin in 2024. One minor thing…

Nope, not temporary as far as I can tell. I think it just kinda worked out that they don't have a dedicated pedestrian bridge in this stretch and need to keep access across the river during construction.
-
I imagine this pedestrian bridge is in addition to the other ones, they don't mention it being a replacement anywhere that I see and it's a bit of a hike to the next bridge. I don't think students on foot in the winter would have been happy to have …

Yeah, it's not really a site worthy of being protected green space or anything like that and it's quite a nice design. The MSU IPF page has a site plan showing the building will be oriented to Shaw: https://ipf.msu.edu/construction/current-projec…

Looks like MSU has finalized the design for their new Multicultural Center to be located at the NE corner of Farm & Shaw. It'll be 34k sq ft and cost $38 million, groundbreaking will be this spring with completion in fall of 2024: https://www…

Similar square footage absolutely could be built on a much smaller (although still large) site, it's not crazy, it's just not what these corporations are looking for and the competition for their investments is too fierce to try to dictate too many …

I have to ask what developed area are you talking about? What 1,000 acre+ site would you find more appropriate? Or would you rather pass on any of these massive projects that require a so called mega site? The Eagle site isn't even particularly f…

Well they could be residential, the clean up would just be about twice as much. Actually got to talk on the phone with the rep for those properties a year or so ago, he said in no way do they at all expect residential but there's nothing technically…

The RACER sites on the west side are only about 230 acres, so not even in the ballpark of comparable. Even then there's no desire for creative site planning or dealing with those sorts of constraints on the part of these companies that have multiple…

This article has a very interesting bit of info if true: Meanwhile, in December, Intel was listed by the state as Clinton County’s top job-poster, with 225 openings. Unclear is what drove that. “There are no new projects in Michigan that we are…

@gbdinlansing Sort of. The area where the swimming area would go is labeled as "potential future phase" in the site/floor plans.

Yeah, only about four blocks though, looks like just the southern two blocks Orchard and Kedzie St fall within both boundaries. It's an odd historic district anyway, I'd hope the city reconsiders its status as time goes on.
