@gbinlansing, if you're interested in pictures of the old REO plant my first post in the 'Lansing history' thread has some pictures, more from the same source can be found here: Diamond REO Motors plant - Library of Congress

I took a quick look through the packets and didn't see any elevations, only site plans and floor plans. I would agree that this building should be comfortably over 90' to the main roof, I wouldn't be surprised if the highest point is 120' or more.

While their feelings are understandable, they really need to lay off, their developments are far less likely to cannibalize each other than they are to eat away at the northern tier developments and the Hannah Lofts/Lodges among others. If these dev…

Good point. With the amount of money now devoted specifically to the trail, it shouldn't be allowed to sit like this for very long at all, repairs should begin almost immediately. Taking care of existing infrastructure has to come first.

No problem with pointing out shortcomings, that's part of what the Friends of the Rivertrail group exists to do, along with helping to decide where to put the trails millage money. Judging by how things have went so far, I'm fairly confident that t…

Yeah, between the Friends of the Rivertrail group and the new $3.5 million per year trails millage, things are looking up for the Rivertrail. That northward expansion is important, as is a westward expansion from Moores Park. I think they claim 20 m…

Yeah, malls can be great when they replace short sections of side streets in very densely populated areas, but probably never when cutting off a main throughfare like Washington, let alone in 1960's Lansing. Even now, years after removing the mal…

I don't really care for the way they designed the the waterfront by City Market, and if you can mistake their landscaping for unmaintained, overgrown weeds, many others will also. It's not bad but they could of done better, I'd of preferred they kep…

Mt Hope from Aurelius to 127 is one of the worst major streets in the area, the only other main street I can think of that's as bad is Jolly from MLK to Waverly (I don't go on the north side much so I can't really speak for roads up that way.) Road …

The malling of Washington Ave was probably the worst thing to happen to downtown, followed by the Capitol Complex. It destroyed the main throughfare, destroyed a few of the nicest commercial blocks and cost a lot of money in the process. I'll never …

Yup, I was just by it tonight and it looks complete. As nice as it is to have a mural there, I just wish QD would open up a storefront there.

Regarding the traffic calming measures, I can't stand speed bumps and the chicane style obstacles, like the one on Mary Ave, are even worse. I'd agree that stop signs and traffic circles are far better and probably safer. I think the City had a traf…

I've always wondered about that piece of land too. I'd bet that someone bought it and either their planned development fell through or they anticipated development in the area to pick more than it did. All of Aurelius feels rather separated from Lan…

I can't seem to get the new imagery to show up on the desktop Google Maps, but the imagery on mobile Maps is at most a month or two old. It shows Marketplace completed, the Outfield well under construction and shows the Lansing Brewery property alre…

Talking about aerials, the Google satellite images were updated within the past month or two, if you use the classic desktop version or the mobile version of maps you can check it out.

...And the Lansing Brewing Company continues to impress. Any idea when they'll be opening?

The demand for quality student housing near campus is incredible, however since most students aren't considered permanent residents it doesn't do much for population figures. Developments like this one are just scratching the surface of the demand t…

It looks very art deco, should be nice.

Yeah, that bridge sucks, on the plus side it's practically invisible from the road. The Kalamazoo St bridge isn't much better, it's in decent shape but is the standard railing and the way it arches it really separates the two sides of the river. …

That sounds pretty nice, I'm interested to see how it turns out. This is one more piece of the Michigan Ave puzzle sliding into place.
