Apparently, the City is developing a formal plan to lure a grocery store downtown: Supermarket could be coming to downtown Lansing

Most importantly for me, I do not want to see the building renovated. I feel like if it were renovated it would make the development of anything worthwhile on the site unlikely. I've always wanted to see a high rise on the corner, at least 20 flo…

GM announced it will be seeking tax incentives for a 225k sq ft, $162 million stamping plant: GM to build $162M stamping plant at Lansing Grand River, add 65 jobs

Yup, and if I remember right the city limits stop at the west and south edge of the trailer park. I've taken deliveries there and I have to say, it's horrible. The roads are hardly roads and the trailers themselves are about the worst that I've s…

I just thought this was an interesting development-related story: The World's Most Advanced Building Material Is... Wood I'd like to see a building like this around here. Anything that's cheaper, greener and can draw positive attention seems like…

But I do think this is positive and appropriate for downtown, there will be ground floor parking in an area that probably can't support retail, with four floors of residential above. It's also an innovative concept in it's construction. I just think…

I don't expect every project in Lansing to be a well layed out mixed used project with underground garages and/or parking ramps and what not. These type of modular apartment are at least interesting, and if you think that they can't be high quality …

From City Pulse: Building outside the box, with boxes Harry Hepler plans to build a 200 unit, four building apartment complex just north of his Motor Wheel Lofts. The apartments are going to be built from prefab boxes, similar to shipping contain…

Just FYI your links are all messed up for me, there seems to be two links together or something. There's a lot to take in on that map, but I'd say Lansing would be a better place had they followed this plan. From large continuous park along the r…

I had mentioned the possibility of a crane a few posts back. My dad had noticed the footing for it about a month or two ago, I was skeptical that they'd need a crane so I has assumed maybe it was for an exterior elevator instead. I asked him why he …

Eyde is planning a fairly large (80k sq ft) retail/office/industrial development on N Grand River. There will be two strip mall looking buildings situated on the site of the long empty building next to Peckam. It's nothing special, but I'm glad to s…

I noticed that on the agenda also and I totally agree with you. While I expect to see that building go, I'd rather it sit abandoned than for it to become a parking lot. I actually think the Council may reject their request, I certainly hope they do.…

They make it sound as if it's a sure thing. If done well, you're right, this could be huge. Having a large urban park with water features and sculptures and what not would be great, especially if similar to that old design. All those people will hav…

I guess the Mason Building restoration is going to be pretty extensive, I guess they're supposed to be installing a crane or construction elevator for the project. As for Constitution Hall, I was in there before and it was crazy how much wasted spac…

Not sure if anyone's seen this, but I thought it was interesting: Vintage Lansing video Source

I like this plan, especially given the location. I think this shows that you can add density while still retaining the convenience of a strip mall with surface parking, this could serve as a blueprint for what's possible down MLK, Cedar and Saginaw.

I like the layout/siteplan, although I'd like to see that pub stay. It just sucks that after all this time we're still probably at least a couple years away from shovels in the ground.

I've never received a response back from Gillespie on anything like that, so good luck if you try.

I really only assumed underground parking because I cant imagine what else they would do with a half underground first floor in a flood plain. I'm not sure...

No, im really talking about the senate-related offices, each of them has a staff and I'm sure there are other people who are/should be under the same roof. There are also their hearing rooms to consider. Even with all that it would probably be stret…
