I also have to work. I'm not sure what they mean, I thought they were going to continue the same streetscape improvements they put on the redone parts of Washington. I am happy with the improvements they have already done, and I'd like to see tho…

Yeah, it's a small gain but every little bit helps, especially when the small companies grow.

They didn't disclose anything at the council meeting?

Visitors Bureau moving to Stadium District I think this will be a good location for them, much more foot traffic and more visible. I didn't know they closed the one in Old Town to walk ins though.

It is, but their depending on the proximity to MSU. I think it ought to work out, besides all those farms would have already been developed if they weren't owned by MSU.

This could be interesting: Electric car project to create up to 70 jobs

One other problem with Knapp's windows is that they are very high up, hugging the ceiling. I do like the idea of a movie theater downtown, but I'm not sure it would be too feasible for Knapps.

Jared, I agree that this isn't the thread for arguing points or going off-topic, but I honestly don't think every thread MUST be about the Lansing area, or even development. I have no problem discussing more general topics like politics, the economy…

Just FYI Capital Gains has a number of stories worth reading this week. One thing in particular an official was quoted saying that he was hoping for something mixed-use for the Dollar site. Also, an event planner in Stadium District, some new job…

Saying we shouldn't depend on the auto industry is much different than saying we should reject it and lose what jobs we have left, and future ones. Like it or not, the auto industry will continue to important to Lansing and Michigan for a very long …

I'm surprised a Lincoln/Mercury dealership lasted that long.

I just though it was interesting to note that Clayton, at 16,00 people, has 39+ Fortune 500 companies. Wow!

It is very high tech. Niowave makes parts for particle accelerators, like FRIB. They are located in the old Walnut St Elementary.

The FRIB will certainly draw some companies. If I had to *guess* I'd say medical equipment companies and maybe some private research labs. Also Niowave will certainly benefit.

The battery cells will be built in Korea and assembled into whole batteries here. Also, if we capitalize on this industry we could be building batteries for all kinds of things, not just cars. I know it's not the most romantic business in the wor…

Supposedly Michigan is slated to get 50,00 jobs in the battery industry in the next 5 years, I sure hope so. What do you think about Lansing getting that new GM battery plant slated for an unnamed Michigan location? 50,000 new jobs in battery ind…

Here are a couple pics of Clayton, it's an impressive downtown for its population.

There is example of a small city that is almost all downtown: Clayton, Mo. It only has 16,000 people and has a downtown significantly larger than Lansing. I don't know how this city came to be, but it is a suburb of St Louis.

I don't think sprawl will continue as much to the East because it has already gone so far out there, same as the West, but the North by far is the least developed. I'd say sprawling is good when its well planned and adjacent to other developed ar…

The plans are off temporarily. The state police are in the building until their new HQ is built, they don't want residential tenants in the building with them, as dumb as it is. Who knows if the Boji's will follow through on their plans after MSP mo…
