Has anyone seen the firetruck that says "Metro Lansing Fire Dept" on it? Anyone know whats up with that? It's based out of the downtown station.
-
In other metro areas where cities and their surrounding communities merged it has been greatly benificial. They are able to attract more jobs larger facilities, it really helps to put them "on the map." Thats besides the savings of consolidating ser…

As much as I dislike it sprawl will probably forever continue to be where most development takes place, no matter what. So if sprawl can look like the northern tier and Eastwood Town Center and the cities are still being redeveloped to a reasonable …

I only assumed that would be the site for JC Pennys because of the construction equipment and because I know the Lowes was supposed to go there at first.
-
The Northern tier is definately sprawl as far as I'm concerned. Maybe not as bad as some of the scattered incoherent sprawl of so many other areas, but still sprawl. I will at least give East Lansing the credit for making development in the Northern…

I think it is supposed to north of Wal Mart and NCG, there is construction of some sort going on there now, it looked like site prep last time I seen.

The last that I heard the J C Penny for Eastwood was a sure thing, I beleive thats what is under construction now. Secondly, this is not going to stop Eastwood from further development, it is a small hiccup. Better in Lansing Township than I-96 &…

I was there too. I think you have a good idea, with holding the cookoff on the downtown streets. But I think they may need to utilize some of the sidestreets also. This year it would have been impossible with all the contruction, but maybe you could…

Looks like theres one semi-interesting item in this weeks City Council agenda: b. Setting a Public Hearing for July 23, 2007 in consideration of Brownfield Redevelopment Plan #32; filed by C&M Walker LLC for the former Melody Farms property …

They have definately taking their time on this one. I was by it probably 3 weeks ago or more and it appeared complete from the outside.

I think the plan for the Lowes fell through. There are plans for a J C Penny, I think it may actually already be getting site prep work done. The Eastwood Master Plan is massive, and it calls for reltively little surface parking and quite a bit of m…

The building on Michigan getting a second floor is really looking interesting. It looks like the second floor is going to sort of have an ultra-modern look, oddly sloped roofs and large windows on the side. Definately worth taking a look at.
-
I agree, I just hope the same can be true for Lansing, or at least its Downtown.
-
It was taken over by the County and they are in the process of selling it. I think they may even be doing an RFP or something similar. Someone else here mentioned it a few weeks ago.

I really hope the old Ottawa Station to be an awsome redevelopment opprotunity. It will have to be put to mix of uses due to its size and varying floor sizes and celing heights. I think the biggest thing currently holding it back are the cooling tow…

This is going to be an awsome project. I still wish Lansing could see some more high-profile, high quality developments like this.

Never considered going to a council meeting, for a couple of reasons. FIrst, the council doesn't typically listen to people anyways, I don't like the types of people that do speak, in this projects case in particular its already out of the hands of …

I'm glad to see this finally happenning, but I'll have to see a map to understand where it is. I haven't seen an updated rivertrail map in a long time, I'm not sure where they have added new trails at all. Do you know if Hawk Island/Scotts Woods are…

If I remember correctly the 7-block property was sold to the Eydes by the city, with the city reserving the right to take back over the property if certain contengencies weren't met. The city has extended the Eydes deadline several times, I beleive …

The CSO schedule showed N Washington being reopened this year, and I seen some things on the City Council agendas about it. I thought the work should have already started.
