That's a great find, thanks! This makes it easy for me to see what portion of that airstrip remains undeveloped today- it's the patch of dirt(?) in the upper right corner of the pic just under Holmes. I'll try to attach a shot of this view today …

It's Lansing Township, so I expect the worst.

Plate 5 on page 16 is particularly good. It shows which roads were current in 1921, and a proposal for connector roads and which roads should be widened. It doesn't look like the city took much or any of his suggestions for the west and south wes…

This may be old news (pun intended) for some of you, but it's new to me and incredibly interesting. I'm slowly reading through it today and pouring over the maps and suggestions. The Lansing plan ; a comprehensive city plan report for Lansing, Mi…

The FB comments to this project are pretty bad. The EL residents don't want it, are upset about it, and don't want more student housing. They learn nothing.

Yeah, I really don't see it happening.

This will be interesting. I follow Adam on social media, and he's shown public interest in these designs, well at least of in particular that I noticed. I should ask him about his position on this sale. I probably won't get an answer other than more…

I should know this, but who do you list as the hard-line opposition? I assume Carol Wood is one?

Check out the recent Lansing Development thread- lots of renderings of the City Hall proposals.

In other post I mentioned Urban Systems- here are some higher-res images of their proposals for City Hall and the Lake Trust side: Washington Ave, where the Lake Trust building is sitting. City Hall Washington Ave proposal Note…

The trick is to get there for lunch around 11:30 or 11:45 at the latest. Source: I work downtown and don't even attempt to eat out down there if it's past noon.

No one is feeling the skyline-altering Urban plan, hey?

It's tucked on the far lower left, super easy to miss. It's in the shape of a tilted cross

I can't edit my posts, but I totally missed what MichMatters was pointing out- I see the airstrip on his map. Super cool!

This second article from 09-30-1945 describes the runways and also mentions the drainage that @MichMatters referenced. Anyways, this is old development news lol, sorry for the flashbacks- I'm a history nerd.

The dark purple area is immediately south of Mt Hope, with the southern boundary as Homes Rd. The light blue block immediately south of that is the Churchill Downs area- but those roads appear to be from after development began- so the airport isn't…

bah, I'm late to the discussion regarding Holmes/Pleasant Grove. That's the site of the LEAP project's town square and public art space, the parking lot in across Pleasant Grove from QD. That and the addition of Beacon SW would be huge for the ne…

I know in the 3rd Ward we have the South Side Community Coalition based at Holmes/Pleasant Grove, and that area is going to get some placemaking upgrades in the near future. There's some chatter about what to call that region too. I've been trying t…

I feel like extending REO town further south than Baker and East of the plot lines along Washington is a stretch. Fabulous Acres is an established (if unattractive) community in that area. To me, REO Town starts just below South Street.
