  • If they're downsizing the project I'd almost rather them have more parkland and fewer taller buildings. Perhaps create baseball/softball complex on part of the land (similar to the East Lansing soccer complex). Seemed like this thing was advertise…
  • MichMatters, I see your points about the floodplain, and of course that's the one factor that has not changed about the project. My complaints are similar, the inexpensive building materials and plain architecture. Because come on - we're supposed…
  • This sounds promising, will be interested to hear what exactly is planned and a time frame. This is a gap in Michigan Ave that will be nice to have filled in.
  • I'm not entirely sure what I expect/hope for out of this project, but I'm somewhat disappointed in the latest renderings/proposal. Bleh. I don't know - this reminds me of some Northern tier-type development in the heart of the city along a major r…
  • I've never heard of Priggooris Park and Holly park either. In Googling, it appears Priggooris Park is north of Park Lake in Bath. Holly Park appears to be a neighborhood in Lansing, northeast of Holmes and Pleasant Grove Rds.
  • I don't have much to add on the mayor's state-of-the-city, I missed it also. The LSJ, you may have seen has an article. I like his mention of transparency and road funding for instance.
  • Mich I agree. The westside would be lacking. Especially with McLaren's reported move/consolidation of their two southside campuses to the SE corner of Lansing. The article wasn't completely clear, but it seems that the Sparrow main campus ER will…
  • I suppose this would qualify as a "Sparrow Project", but their St Lawrence campus ER is closing. By no means am I an expert on such things, but I'm not surprised at this news. Seemed inevitable. I wonder what the future 10, 20, 30 years is for th…
  • Came across the work zone cam for the Marketplace addition the other day. (I don't believe it had already been posted.) I imagine there's some interior work still to be done, but it looks nearly complete. Their web site indicates spring 2018.
  • Very cool indeed. I checked out the O-bahn Busway article in Wikipedia. I'll try to view the YouTube later on.
  • Saw the QD article, wasn't aware of the corporate change at QD either. The QD in Holt has been closed for a few months now due to fire, so it makes sense that it would be the first store upgraded. Otherwise I can think of others that are probably …
  • Ratchet, I agree. And I like the idea of two separate buildings - 1 at the bank, 1 at the Thai Hut site.
  • As for the Edgewood shopping area on the southside... It's near where I live. It is anchored by Target at the east end, opposite of Sam's. Average looking shopping plaza, giant asphalt lot, typically 2-3 vacant stores. Lumber Liquidators, Office…
  • On the Sam's closing, gbdinlansing, I agree that 1 Sam's in the Lansing area along with the Costco is perhaps enough as the drive from one end of town to another is not prohibitive for most (those riding the bus, it may be another issue). In postin…
  • I agree on the timing, seems that Wal-Mart wanted the pay raises announcement to dominate the news and the Sam's closures less so. This does leave a gap somewhat for the Lansing area. The remaining Sam's at Eastwood (north end of town) and Costco …
  • Another large store closing in the Lansing area (following the Schuler's announcement). Sam's Club on Edgewood Blvd is closing, one of 62 to close nationwide. Sam's Club in Lansing to close on Jan. 26; 172 workers will lose jobs I wonder how …
  • Thanks for noting that, Jared. I read the article saying that the project was "back on" but still pending the performance (...in this case guarantee). I was wondering how this was really any different than what we had before. Thanks for the lin…
  • Jared, I agree the jobs created by a casino generally aren't high paying or necessarily the best. (Though I think some Vegas jobs pay well.) I'd add that casinos can encourage crime and excessive gambling obviously is problematic. I suppose we co…
  • Willoughby Estates looks close to being completed, I live near there and was by about a week ago. To me, the buildings like like the college-oriented ones in the E.L. Northern Tier, vinyl siding, etc. I see MSUFTW's point on the turn lane at Hol…
  • From Gongwer: Sault Tribe Denied Land Trust For New Casinos Officials with the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians said they would continue fighting to construct casinos in Lansing and near Romulus despite a federal decision Thursday…
