  • Today's Farm Lane Bridge update, crews were putting into place prefabricated spans that cross the whole river. They were put into place by the largest crane I have seen. Very cool to watch.
  • Yes it was kind of funny as I found the answer, which is because the Farm Lane is closed, right after I posted the question. I think this machine can now answer questions before I ask them!
  • The idea that the current road should be kept unchanged as some kind of a commemoration of the neighborhood that was once there is not logical. It is kind of like what happened in Detroit when a businessman wanted to plant tree farms on some of the …
  • I have been wondering if anyone knows why there is a temporary traffic signal in front of Sparty. It has been there for several weeks, but I cannot figure out why. They did put in new sod in front of Sparty but that is the only "construction" going …
  • I saw a YouTube video about the last beam topping ceremony at the new Hudson Tower in Detroit. It looks like a very nice building with some interesting windows and design features beyond just a glass tower. I also noticed how nicely paved all the st…
  • Avoiding Michigan Ave I traveled down Harrison and saw a very large crane and many steel beams already standing at the new Student Wellness Center site. It is going to be a very large building. Over at the Farm Lane bridge project the walls on both…
  • There was a "dream plan" for this site a few years ago that included a hotel and housing, it was just a dream however, a good one, it had a much more urban looking buildings along the river and right up to the sidewalk on S. Washington. They have pu…
  • There is a nice artical and a video that I had not seen about the drain projects, on the LSJ.com. The video featured views of the testing of the water works back on a nice day in Nov. I am so happy to see this project is going to be a real beautiful…
  • I made my way over to the Jerusalem Bakery just in time to see them cutting the 40-year-old trees down in front of the church. What a shame it is that they could not find a plan that included saving at least some of them. Unless they plant mature tr…
  • I like the small-town look of this design; I was wondering about the spaces that are labeled classrooms. There is a large artical on LSJ.com about the new restaurant spaces being built on the ground floor of the Knapp's Building. Sounds interesting…
  • I don't know for sure now, but Gary Ganger's family lived in Colonial Village back in the '60s and I did know then that his father owned the trash collection business, I believe it was before the real estate business. I often wonder about why say a …
  • You can't get there from here! I have never seen so much road work being done all at the same time, I have started to take the CATA bus which is a quite relaxing way to get downtown from EL.
  • I noticed the glass facade of the new student International Center is going up. it looks very nice. the support walls of the Farm Lane bridge look nice as well, it has been interesting to see this construction so closely.
  • I actually went to school with Gary Granger, I don't remember that he was a jerk then but it seems like he has grown up to be one. Of course, the $40 million pecked his interest, while he let his downtown properties to fall into the worst disrepair …
  • Big News a new airline will be flying out of Lansing called Breeze. First flights will be to Ft. Myers and Orlando.
  • I have not been over to this area in a while, and I was wondering about the high-rise apartment building that was talked about a while ago on N. Grand River at the north side of the river. I have not heard or read anything about this project for som…
  • Over on Mount Hope the walls for the new school are going up already. It is always a relief to see actual construction going on, as opposed to the talk and plans that we usually have that go on for years before anything happens.
  • I have found the terminal very dark, like are they trying to save money on lighting? There are several car dealerships that have terminal-like buildings, if they can build dealerships like that, it seems like we could build a new well-lit building t…
  • I noticed a new business next to the Gate Way Lofts on Michigan Ave. The old paint store in the steel frame building across the street has been renovated into a pet wash and supply store. Looks better than before. I am hoping the road work will fini…
  • I was around before this street was converted to the present configuration; the project cleared out a lot of old homes and neighborhood business districts including my old hood along South Logan and Barnes. Those places would be "Old Towns" these da…
