  • The wood trimming would be cool if it stayed, but I'm pretty sure it's just temporary. That creamish colored trim you see at the ends of the pictures will probably cover the entirety of it when complete.
  • Great to hear. I'm incredibly sick of that building continuing to be an eyesore in EL, and the sooner it comes down the better as far as I'm concerned.
  • Jared, will that portion of the City Center II construction coincide with the demolition of the old Citizens Bank building on the corner of Abbot and GR? Or do you think it will begin without that demolition being done?
  • The State News is reporting that City Center II's development agreement will expire on October 1st if it isn't finalized and some subsequent addendums aren't agreed to. Based on your post about the state funding, Jared, this shouldn't be an issue, b…
  • The State News has made it known that there will be a "work session" for the City Center II project TONIGHT @ 7pm in Courtroom 2 of the 54-B District Court on Abbot and Linden. Ted Slaton has said it's in the courtroom due to expected high turnout f…
  • New news on the "New Life for Old College Field" project. The State News is saying that there's enough money to build the new soccer field, which they want to complete over this coming summer. They also have enough money for a batting practice area…
  • I'm really geeked now that the sign is up. I'm planning on going to the 'Nuts game on the 17th, and I can't wait to see it at night.
  • The State News has an article up on whether Cedar Fest will expedite the East Village plans at all, and the consensus answer seems to be no. Ted Staton is, however, making the East Village sound like an inevitability rather than a possibility, which…
  • The State News also has an article up about the planning commission's passage. You would think the city council should approve this pretty quickly now that it cleared this first hurdle, but I guess you never know. I'm with you on this one though mic…
  • Per the State News, it looks like the old Country Markett (2nd "t" added intentionally) site may have a new resident on its way. The East Lansing Food Co-Op is considering a move into that location, and I think it'd be great considering there don't …
  • I drove by yesterday, and it does indeed appear that the Cornerstone Coffee in EL on Grand River has closed. They never had good coffee, which you would think would be pretty important for a coffee shop. EDIT: "Cornerstone" Coffee on GR near Harr…
  • Per the State News, more complaining from area residents concerning the City Center II plans. The developers continue to cut parking spaces, scale it down, and the residents still want no part of it. Now they're complaining that Valley Court Park wo…
  • New East Village Newsletter sent yesterday. Not nearly as much new info as the last issue had, but some interesting points that the previous e-mail in Janurary didn't touch on: * Residential - 965 units * 1,500 beds of Rental housing for undergr…
  • To add to the Cornerstone story, I've heard from a friend, haven't checked on it myself though, that the Cornerstone in EL on Grand River near Hillcrest is also closing/has already closed. If I drive by it soon I'll post again as to whether I can co…
  • I was shocked that particular Cornerstone closed its doors. My girlfriend and I were down there a couple weekends ago, and noticed it had closed. We had been there about 5 or 6 weeks ago to get some coffee on the weekend, and noticed it was one of t…
  • Don't know if this development has a thread yet, but I was at Cornerstone today on Grand River near Harrison, and there's what appears to be a large apartment/condo development going up right behind (to the south of) it. It's somewhat obstructed fro…
  • More interesting than this State News article is actually the "comment" at the bottom by, who appears to be, Pierce Education Properties VP for marketing properties Theresa Nakata. In the post, she claims that the article's comment that the East …
  • I couldn't disagree more hood. I was an undergrad here, am a grad student here, and hope to be a resident (if I can find employment in the area). The students are an integral part of the East Lansing community, and it would be an atrocity to banish …
  • Well, I guess we can switch the name of this thread back to City Center II. The State News is now reporting that MSU, apparently, has decided not to move the history museum into the development, meaning that it should be smaller in scale.
  • Per the State News, discussion @ 8pm today regarding City Center II @ the Hannah Community Center. I understand the concerns that those living in the immediate area have about the project, but I would LOVE to see this one go through. That particular…
