Nobody here has mentioned Uber, but this past year I've started taking Uber for some trips where I would have used CATA before, especially in lieu of catching very late buses after a long day of teaching. How many like me I don't know.

On an amusing note, I noticed that the Capital City Grille in the Radisson downtown transformed itself into "Grillers" - a hamburger and fry joint with much cheaper food. Presumably this is just for the duration of Shuto-Con - and it was very busy …

Was told by someone connected to Envie that Troppo is closing in the summer.

Just to add to your "the land is valuable for parking, even though it isn't urban-valuable" point - I work at LCC and do NOT drive there. The faculty contract guarantees all faculty a parking spot, and if you give it up the college will give you...…

Say - are the rents for restaurant space downtown just too high? Was just thinking there are places on the Washington Square strip that I'm pretty sure have been vacant the entire 5.5 years I've worked at LCC. There's no need for that - there IS d…

As part of my continuing crusade to get some more crosswalks on Michigan Avenue west of Harrison, I emailed the SkyVue development today to suggest THEY ask the city / MiDOT for some more crosswalks. Received the following reply: "Thank you for …

Say, anybody know who'd I'd contact at MSU about the need for more crosswalks west of Harrison on Michigan Ave? I'd guess at least a couple hundred people cross there everyday, more will once Skyvue is done, it's absurd there are no crosswalks. I'…

Gotta say the rents for places in Lansing often make no sense to me. The city is not all that dense. Very often it seems like you could get a far larger home in only a slightly (and I just mean a couple blocks) less convenient location for the sam…

I should mention too that, even on Christmas Eve, there was a decent amount of pedestrian traffic - and I don't mean people walking from their car to a shop, but wandering around, enjoy the parks which were all decorated. It was nice.

Wanted to mention, I was recently in Cincinnati, OH, and was quite impressed by this development: http://www.liberty-center.com/directorymap . Think Eastwood in the sense that it was all designed by a single developer, but they did a stupendous job…

Sounds like an advertisement for Uber.

Incidentally, we got a letter from LEAP about the Under-the-Bridge project, which is now moving forward. Struck me, though, that apparently part of the issue was that it will be in Lansing Township, and apparently the Township was unwilling to main…

In East Lansing, not Lansing, but I have emailed or tweeted several times now trying to tell the city and state DOT (which actually owns the road) how badly a crosswalk is needed near Kensington on Michigan Ave especially, and in spots between Harri…

Here here on slowing the roads, friend.

Our one visit to Sacco's, did not like. Played the music extremely loudly, couldn't hear people at your table. Eh.

Wouldn't surprise me, but Aramark is all over the place, it is by no means just a prison food company, it is huge. 270,000 employees per Wikipedia.

Building.

I don't know. Frandor is a popular stop. It's also clear that that crawl into and out of Frandor is going to put a significant dent in the "Rapid" part of "Rapid Transit". Personally I think I'd rather just have a stop on Michigan Ave - WITH a we…

Walked behind the development today, looks nice, note the underground parking entrance at right. Building looks bigger than it really is from the front, you think it's a square, when it's really just an L.
