Red Cedar project

A large project consisting of multiple mixed use buildings built in association with a major drain/park project on the former Red Cedar Gold course. The project includes 792 beds of student housing, 181 market rate apartments, two hotels, a senior living facility and over 40k sq ft of retail. Project cost $256 million.

Currently proposed as a 5 floor 122 unit affordable housing project on the private land that was leased to the city for a public parking lot. The Plan was rejected by council in October 2023, future plans are unclear.

In September 2016 a developer proposed two four-floor buildings, each 77 units, one for workforce housing and one for senior housing. At the time, the rezoning was approved and subsequently made redundant with the new form-based code, no further information is known. In early 2024 a vacant commercial building on the site was demolished.
