These projects look very impressive in this visualization. I have to wonder what the rents are going to be. I was thinking while watching the video that it is ironic to see this huge building going up on a rather small lot, compared with all the large open spaces everywhere downtown. Of course, the riverside location is why they are building there. The only thing that really seems "over done" are the many large community spaces. Here in The Newman Lofts the community does use the common spaces, but mostly they sit unused. The outdoor "amenity deck" is nice too, but there is no shade, and it is very windy out there, so it does not a lot of use either. I guess my thoughts are about our 55+ building so maybe these really nice amenities will get a lot of use from people of all ages. I would love to live there!
Still not that impressed by it and not thrilled it's just Hobbs+Black, but I have to remind myself it's still a significant and exciting project for Lansing. At least it's moving forward.
It will be 4 medicore H+B projects in a row on the Grand River (minus the parking garage). Decades of "meh".
