This new trail will extend from the end of the existing Rivertrail at Hagadorn & Shaw to Lake Lansing Park South then onto Lake Lansing Park North. When completed it will include 5.5 miles of new trail while connecting almost 5 miles of existing trail. This new 3.7 mile trail will extend from the existing southern end of the regional trail system at Esker Landing south along Cedar St to Howell Rd then over 127 via a pedestrian bridge to connect to Mason's existing 3.4 mile Hayhoe Trail at Howell & Kerns roads. The section from Esker Landing to College Rd was completed Winter 2023, the remainder is fully funded with construction tentatively slated for 2026 or 2027. ***In 2024, as part of the round 8 park/trail grants, Ingham County approved the Vevay Twp extension of the Hayhoe Trail that will extend it from it's southern terminus at Kipp Rd to Eden Rd then turning south to Tomlinson Rd. Among the grants received from the state by Lansing in 2023 was one to build the first small section of a larger master-planned N East Pathway. The section funded would run in between Oakland and Shiawassee along the CSX RR tracks. A project to separate storm and sanitary sewers in and around the Frandor area with considerable publicly visible infrastructure, built partially in conjunction with the Red Cedar project. It includes a 20+ acre park with over a mile of new river trail south of the Red Cedar development along the Red Cedar River in addition to a series of ponds, trails, water features and an improved sledding hill at the existing Ranney Park. Other (above-ground) work includes rain gardens and water features throughout the Frandor commercial area, Michigan Ave medians and Red Cedar development

In late 2019 a developer proposed a 52 unit three floor apartment building at the northeast corner of Cherry and E St Joseph streets. The developer had no construction timeline at the time of announcing their plans other than saying that construction was not imminent, they appear to still own the properties the new building would sit on as of May 2024. There were no media reports at the time.

Extensive work to rebuild US-127 from south of Mason to I-69 will affect the Lansing portions of the freeway through 2027. Work in 2024 and 2025 will add lanes between I-496 and I-96 making the freeway 3-4 lanes each direction, soften the curve near 496 and improve exits. Work in 2026 and 2027 will move north of 496, details on that portion are not yet available.
