The city broke ground on the new entertainment center downtown today. There was a depiction of the center in the online LSJ by Intrigue Studios! [as they do] kind of busy but interesting. I noticed they are calling the Hillsdale part of the new hous…

I read in today's City Pulse an artical which included a description of the new "Student Wellness Center" [kind of a lame title] that included a swimming pool. It is great that so many people have donated to the sports facilities, I think a new swim…

That is good news. When I think of the other sports facilities on campus it seems odd that a new pool would be such a great expense that they have to look for outside funding. I don't know for sure but did any of the newer facilities need to get don…

It is also free to park on Sundays in any EL ramp. A lot of people will just sit and wait for a ticket while the gate is open right in front of them. They could promote the Sunday free parking better; most people don't know about it.

At Ranny Park the crews have planted many more trees and started laying out the paths also creating small hills and valleys around the large hills and the new ponds. There is a large cement structure of some type being built, [ so far, a large wall]…

Sounds like a good plan by people who have the funds and the experience for this sort of project. The depiction of the new building is OK, not very exciting but at least it will be a street level building not adding to the parking ramp canyon on Alb…

There is an artical in the City Pulse about a plan to build housing and offices for CATA across from the Bus station. The project would include homeless persons services, with housing for them. There would also be low and market rate housing, and so…

That is good news. Sometimes it seems like these promised projects will never actually start. I am hoping this renovation will be at least as nice as the Homes Street School, which I think looks very nice.

I was interested in seeing the water works features at the Red Cedar development, so we went to "The Old Bag of Nails" for lunch [pretty good fish and chips] and took a look. I was impressed and glad to see something we have been looking at in depic…

I hope it looks better than the rather standard depictions. Did these architects all go the same school?

Thanks for the photos! That was quite the bike tour! I was happy to see some of the water features are now in place at the Red Cedar project. I would like to see the Michigan Ave water features, landscaping and REPAVING finished soon, not much to lo…

The landscaping of Ranny Park has begun, I noticed a lot of earth moving and the first trees being planted on the hillsides and around the ponds. I am hoping for a lot more trees!

The work on the exterior of the new MSUFCU building looks to be about finished, they put up the signage at the top and street level of the building and all together imo! the building looks pretty nice, like it is easy on the eyes, just a nicely desi…

I read that the Money Ball Company is about to open their new headquarters on W. Saginaw in a rehabbed building in the old commercial district east of MLK. I hope this will be the start of renewal of that area. It could be a nice "old town" type dis…

Today I asked a worker who was with a crew installing more posts in the woodlot behind Erikson and Wells halls what they were for. He told me they were for hammocks! They are for people to tie their hammocks to, rather than trees. While I would say …

This looks like a very ambitious plan. I like the greenways planned. I am sure this is not part of this plan, but I noticed a line of posts [wooden signposts?] placed along the river starting behind the Kresge Art Center going down to Bogue Street. …

I noticed some activity at the long empty car lot on the south side of Michigan Ave. and Howard, crews were cutting down all the scrub trees and bushes that had grown over the years, and I could be wrong, but I think the rest of the little old house…

Barnes Avenue School is where my dad and aunts, my brothers sister, and I went to elementary school. It was truly a neighborhood school, where you could be in class with the same kids all the way from kindergarten to the 6th grade. There was no cafe…

I was happy to see this story. It seems like MSU is just waiting for someone to pay for a pool, which is OK, but it seems odd for some reason, maybe this gift will help get a proper pool for the many uses it could have.
