  • Ugly. The only benefit I can see is that the Gaslight is near the Lake Lansing - Chandler/Abbott intersection. Chandler Rd. is not safe for pedestrians and the lack of proper sidewalks between the Water park and apartments/condos to the north is …
  • LSJ online comments vary widely, but they do seem to all center on bitching about lazy American workers (read: unions). Joel Ferguson bankrolls Michigan Democrats and the MSP contract is his reward. This is a time-honored tradition in politics am…
  • I drove by the other day was amazed at the progress. tI took a minute to get used to the new look of the street. This area will resemble Old Town in the "socio-economic" aspect - meaning high and low income living within a block of each other.
  • Seven foot walls. Nice. What does that say about MSP?
  • My dad spent 25 years teaching in the English Dept. at Morrill Hall. I attended classes there. Abrams Planetarium was a hangout for this 70's kid, as was Spartan Village and Cherry Lane. This small college town is going corporate and in a hurry. …
  • I was at Valley Court for the Great Lakes Folk Fest (thank you, East Lansing and MSU) and noticed the moved utility bldg.
  • LSJ reflects what most newspapers are going through; they're are expected to turn a handsome profit every year, and reducing page size and content help offset any advertising losses. Mediocrity reigns. And the minute someone introduces an alternativ…

  • I grew up in this neighborhood in the 60' - 70's, attended Central School across the street from the (then) Bird residence which is the house that was demoed. I'm still trying to wrap my head around the asking prices for these new condos.
  • Regarding movie theatres in East Lansing. The State Theatre on Abbott Rd. and Campus Theatre on Grand River (next to Student Book Store) lasted until the very early 80's.
  • I'm happy to find this site. I am a long-time area resident (since 1969), work from a home office in web design and play weekends as a musician. Another urban site I hang out on is detroityes.com.
  • I'm blown away by the huge facelift that E.L. is getting, it's not going to be recognizable in five years or less.
  • Speaking of roundabouts, there are at least two at the Lee Rd/US23 interchange by Brighton. With two next to each other it is confusing to navigate especially at night. I'm sad to see the houses on Louis St. go, I went to Central School a block o…
  • I grew up across the street from Campus Village 2. For many years this area was just used car lots. Now that the Dollar's closed I wonder if anyone will snap that property up?
  • Greetings, I'm new to the board and a long-time resident. I'm amazed at the rate of new development in Lansing and East Lansing, this is good news especially in these times. Stadium District, Sparrow Town, East Lansing - East Village, East Lansing -…
  • Just so I'm clear, what street will the condo face? Bailey or Albert? I've been in the area for 40 years and grew up on Cowley Ave. in EL. The urbanization of ol' EL appears to be in overdrive, kind of like MSU's pace of development. Thanks!
