I agree on the picking and choosing. This seems more fair. Variance is just an extra step that is now unnecessary. I’m really glad this passed and crossing my fingers for the next one too. What’s up with the planning commission? This seems like a w…

Lastly, the views from these new apt buildings out onto campus must be stunning. From the parking garages, campus looks like a giant carpet (tree canopy) w occasional buildings and landmarks cropping up. Evryone should check out this view if you've …

I guess I'm happy with the look of this and definitely happy to see it finally underway. We can all breath a 10-year sigh of relief. I think this project has good urban design sensibility. I like the smaller building -- it harkens back to some of…

for point of reference, the Renaissance Center is 727'

615' Dang! That's pretty impressive. Thanks for fact-checking (they still feel like 1,300')

As an interim thing, the towers should be lit up at night with subtle color tones - purple for breast-cancer awareness month, green-and-white for big game days, etc.

All the ideas floated above sound amazing. St. Louis has it's arch. We have our 1,000'-high smokestacks. (......but we also have a beautiful capital building and one of the best skyscrapers in the midwest in the Boji Tower!!!)

Haha, not trying to be too irreverent.... Real question: is any of the drain work moving forward with the Red Cedar/Frandor project site? I was under the impression (or maybe just hoping) that some of the Drain Commissioner's work was going to ha…

Ooof, this is really sad. Sounds like it was a young man (25) with a big heart -- a very positive person from the looks of his facebook page. Really tragic for those involved with this place. I'm sorry if any of you knew this guy or the people runni…

Wow! What a cool project! This is the kind of thing that will make Lansing unique. Definitely a gorgeous building. I don't quite understand how the basement unit will be feasible? I would say that this stretches Old Town's reach further northwest…

I love the ferris wheel idea! And I think you're right that with intentional programming this project could and WILL be a success. I'd like to see it succeed so that the funders continue giving money for projects like this. The steps to the water…

Mich - these are beautiful photos (you should submit to the city for PR purposes). These events look fun, but wouldn't this permanent installation actually preclude gatherings like this from happening, in terms of space it would be taking up? I w…

Yeah, I'd like to see it with the elevation (shown in the rendering) facing onto Shiawassee and with the addition of a 6-8 story tower at the corner of Shiawassee and Capital. I think this could feel like a big-city intersection with the right sized…

.....that said, I think the best cities have a mish-mash of architectural styles. So I would welcome this building on any vacant parcel or parking lot in Lansing. It's also a good urban building. Btw, Oliver Towers has density, height/scale, pres…

Interesting.... Gillespie -- pushing the exact same building 10-15 years ago, just a different design style. I personally think this proposal feels more appropriate for Richmond VA or anywhere in the south. To me the Oliver Tower looks like Lansing …

No way! This is a good city building
