It is true that there is nothing "wrong" with wanting to live in a rural area or small town, but when too many people move "there" then it becomes a suburb which really ends up not pleasing anyone. Then people abandon those areas and move further o…

My mother will love this if it is built. She lives in the area, but not in whitehills.

I do think that housing can do well in downtown lansing. The only problem is lack of a grocery store, but the city market may help in that regard.

I know this is an old thread, but I think a merger between the two cities would save money with less overhead (one pd and f.d.). I do not think the schools should be merged. I think a lot of these townships that border the cities should be annexed…

Has this project been built? I always support projects in city centers over suburban greenfield projects. Sprawl hurts us all! If the population of the area was growing quickly, there would have to be some outward expansion, but even in that situ…

It is too bad michigan cannot get some of the federal money florida has turned down for high speed rail from detroit to lansing to grand rapids. That would be super! Well, as.long as I am dreaming I wish for a million bucks also!

Is there any update on this topic?

I really hope they save the old depot. Lansing has not had a great record of preserving it's past, so I really would like to see this suceed.

I hope they do redevelop the property. I remember the first hotel they built on the property-multi colored and 50's "modern". I guess that dates me, but I was a child at the time.

It really is a shame something cannot be done with this site. Perhaps a park would be a good use of the land.

I don't gamble, but I think a casino would be a good addition to lansing. Maybe the casino people could team up with the developer of the high rise condos or the lenawaee project on a joint venture.

I suspect that the Detroit count is way off. Many people in Detroit are distrustful of the governments motives, plus there is a huge homeless population (over fifty thousand would not be too many).

Such a small millage for such a large benefit. Such small minded people!

RE: sprawl- I have not seen an example of" good" sprawl, especally when it is not driven by a large increase in population. Generally it is bad for the environment, bad for cities, and expensive for almost everyone in the long run! Someone show m…

I think it borders on criminal to have torn down a historic structure like the 1861 HOUSE for a parking lot! It would be wonderful if they eventually built the project, but I doubt it will happen.

I am looking forward to seeing the development going forward. I will be in the area soon and will be interested in taking a look at the site.

I hope something positive happens soon with the property. I used to love shopping there back in the day, being old enough to have done so as an adult, and have fond memories. It would be a shame to lose this historical building to yet another par…

Has anyone heard anymore about what is happening with this property? I am soon going to be moving back to the general area and am really interested in what is happening to the property.

A greenbelt would be wonderful! It could include a trail system that could be hooked to the river trail.
