Over at the new International Student Center on Farm Lane they are starting to install the exterior facade panels, which are dark green? with darker and lighter panels both shinny and mat finishes. The treatment looks good, and the building seems to…

I hope the city would not allow a cyclone barbed wire fence in front of what could be called an historic building. Is crime that bad around there? Over on Michigan I noticed a new building going up at the GM auto dealership.

Wow they finally have taken up "my" idea for the fish ladder. I wonder has anyone ever seen a fish going up the ladder? I was around when they built it [for the new introduced salmon] and I never saw any fish.

I don't "hate" this depiction, it looks like the apartments will have balconies which will make the building look like an apartment building not an office tower. However, is looks more generic than the last drawings, I would like to see a design tha…

It is kind of a miracle but they city sold City Hall and the hotel plan is going to happen!

Meanwhile the Farm Lane bridge is looking very nice. Crews are installing the streetlights, they have a vintage look, similar to the lamp posts around the central campus. There are two tall lamp posts at each end and several shorter lamp post in bet…

Yes, it seems like a new "artist" is inflicting his ego on us around town recently. The new sound barrier walls next to the Cherry Hill neighborhood has been tagged with big dumb tags, nothing artistic about it. I would like to see the fools who do …

I hope that the development of the Genesee School does happen. It is such a great building, quite different from other Lansing elementary schools. Maybe they will hire the same people who did the Holmes Street School, they did a really nice-looking …

I agree I guess I was thinking of the people who spent years and a lot of money on the Old REO building in REO-town and another on East Michigan that closed. Good food and great beer are indeed the keys. I hope the new place does well, I love that b…

A mural would be a good idea, in most case with murals around the city the taggers tend to leave the murals alone. In other areas of campus, they usually cover the graffiti over fairly quickly, they never covered anything under the old bridge. I kno…

A new brewery /restaurant is opening on Ionia Street downtown, called Saltrock. There is an artical about the new business in LSJ.com they seem to have a good plan. I wonder if the brewery pub trend is running its course, I am a beer drinker but rar…

The Farm Lane Bridge is open for traffic while they finish the sidewalks and light poles. It looks great, maybe if you are interested in seeing it you might want to get over there before the graffiti "artists" decorate the walls.

I saw an interview with the developer who is very excited about buying City Hall and turning it into a first-class hotel. He is the same developer who had been wanting to develop the City Hall for the former mayor and seemed very much into getting t…

I took a closer look at the "sandstone" colored squares, and they may not be the finished exterior, maybe some sort of backing for whatever the finished facade is. I hope it is as there is a lot of wall space covered with those squares.

Crews were laying the rebar for the sidewalks on the Farm Lane Bridge, and they are finishing the approach road beds on both sides. Most of crew and equipment trailers have been removed, and the new sidewalks in front of the Auditorium have been fin…

I quit Facebook a while back, I followed a foraging group, which became political! There would be comments about gathering mushrooms from private and State lands, saying it was anyone's right to gather what they want where they want. They commented …

The Michigan Central Train Station was basically a bombed-out shell, and they found the money and will to save that building, I think the task of saving at least the facade of Eastern would be a much easier and less expensive than any of the rehabil…

Wow so cool, it's like a picture of somewhere else, something so cool looking and beneficial for our water systems can't be in Lansing! I am happy that it is. Thanks for posting.

There was an interesting note in the City Pulse stating that the architects for the Ovation Center have been chosen, and they are Albert Kahn Associates! of Royal Oak. I think this might be a good plan.

Just an observation, I have had reason to travel on E. Michigan Ave and found that it looks really terrible with the trees all cut down. I would suppose there are not many who remember what Michigan Ave. looked like before those trees were planted i…
