I wrote today, that was a good catch, I'm glad someone from Ann Arbor was not the one who points that out.

I had not noticed that. Capitol does refer a building and Capital refers to a place as in Capital City. The Capitol Building is in the Capital City, so you are right it should be Capitol Complex because it is the Capitol Building's complex! This is …

Thank you for that information, I had wondered about that private bus running through campus. Compared to the recession, the price of gas is relatively cheap these days, when it was up around $4 a gallon lots of people parked the car and took the …

That is so great that you use your bike so much. Do you ride the streets? Most are so bad. I do see a lot of people using the bike racks on the buses and just riding bikes on S.Washinton Ave. I think part of an overall transportation plan it would i…

I see, the image is a problem and I agree with you. It's is not what I say, about folks who ride the bus or even the people themselves who do ride the bus. I think it is a stigma from people who do not ride the bus, how would they know who rides the…

I hope my ideas and comments do not come off as bashing CATA. I was kind of brainstorming ideas to increase ridership. Just yesterday I overheard some saying he doesn't take the bus because of the "kind" of people he meets riding the bus. Changing t…

The new mayor was on wilx news last night saying that getting the City Hall project underway will be one of his first priorities. He said it will be so exciting to have a first class hotel right across from the Capitol. Looks like he is"all in" on t…

It would seem fairly easy to have through buses that just stop at the transportation center, allowing passengers to stay on the same bus if they want to ride further past the center. I could see routes that go to outlying bus stop hubs and never eve…

I drove down Willow yesterday and saw the elevator tower and the first walls of the new apartment buildings are going up at The School for The Blind site. I think it is interesting that these new buildings around town are mainly wood-framed structur…

There are so many things CATA could do to improve ridership. 24-hour service on the busiest routes might be a place to start. I am not sure how they could do this, but I think folks around here feel like the only reason to ride the bus is that you d…

I have noticed new signage all around downtown, providing directions to the different districts of downtown. They are nice, clean and modern looking. Now they should take down the older signs that point the way to places like the Woman's History Mus…

Wow, when did they propose this building? So much better. I thought it was a drawing of a building proposed for another city. No, it is a drawing of what they are not going to build in Lansing. It is kind of depressing to turn back to what they are …

I agree that the old building is better than this new design. The developers keep saying the Y building is unsuitable for redevelopment. I think that most of the upper floors were hotel-like rooms, which would seem to be easily reconfigured, and hav…

I agree with your thoughts on the design. Maybe this is dated and they will revisit the design. Seems like I saw this drawing a few years ago. As folks here may know I really hate those roof caps or whatever they call them. I think they make a build…

I like your hopeful ideas. They have "landscaped" a few areas that were once blacktop so they do have a sense of doing this sort of thing. The lots could be done it in such a way that if they needed the land again it could be easily redeveloped.

Never let them put down a parking lot there! It will take 35 years to remove it! Plant grass!

I was also speaking in terms of "wouldn't it be great if they did" about the riverfront parking lots and a Lansing made products display. There was a "showroom" but that was when Olds division actually could do different things somewhat independentl…

That is a great idea. Back in the day, Olds had plant tours and a small showroom at Logan Street [MLK] and Olds Ave. I might be wrong but I think that employees could buy a car there. The area that you mention was once a park called Elm Street Park,…

That would be a great sight to see, East Grand River lined with cranes. If it went on to the Red Cedar project we'd look like a boom town around here. Is the Park District project totally dead?

Maybe the REO museum and local dealers could fund a display of locally produced vehicles as a placemaking project, that says Lansing is a place that builds and makes things. This could include Spartan Motors and anything we make in Greater Lansing.
