If he doesn' the city would likely allow him to move forward. Then the city could take the property under emminent domain, or they could just deal with less parking.

I was just thinking of something else I expect to happen in 2008. I think there will be something announced regarding the Knapps building, I've heard a rumor or two, I think somethings up.

I can't understand why anyone would be encouraging them to leave up a huge, obsolete factory next door to them. Especially when they have an opprotunity to see the properties get redeveloped, even if not in the immediate future.

I seen that before, I guess I'd actually have to see it get built to know if I like or not.

I think that the design is horrible. It means that this new museum will go unnoticed just like the current one. I think it's really really plain and boring. And with this design chosen I can say I don't care about this project either way anymore.

I can't wait to see what happens to these sites. Now with these two places coming down there is a HUGE swath of land right in the middle of the city. I just hope they don't do an industrial park or something.

Wow, this is really sudden: GM poised to raze Craft Centre, Metal Center

It's a touchy market because nobody knows when the limit will be reached. Right now developers are simply filling pent-up demand, who knows how many units can be absorbed into the market. I seen in the LSJ some time ago that a company that did a sur…

Strathmore updated their site, there are elevations for all buildings and several renderings, all in pdf format: MMP

Construction has begun, they are ripping up the lot and there is a small crane on site, I assume to drill the footings.

I am SO happy to see something like this go up in Detroit, it looks like something you'd see in Chicago. I just hope we can get some of that kind of architecture up here in Lansing. $150-million complex planned for downtown

According to LSJ's local news briefs, they will announce the winning design January 15th.
-
Now that we know it will still be a good size and height building we just have to wait and see the renderings, which I would assume will be pretty decent at the least.

Interesting article in this weeks City Pulse: Winning design of Broad museum hidden under price tag

The newest design for this project, on the property listing it says construction is anticipated to begin in spring/summer 2008. MMP flyer

I'll wait to see the site plan and renderings before passing judgement. But given what was proposed I have high expectations.

I think you got the wrong idea about this area, it is developed to north, east and south of Saginaw, but Saginaw itself has remained stagnant. This is one of at least three or four significant projects slated for vacant and/or underused land on this…
