I'm glad to see this, and anxious to see the proposals.

And these buildings were among the worst in the city before, I remember the second building, it was open to the outside and in horrible shape not that long ago.

The only thing about the space behind the Stadium District is that they have to leave a reasonable amount of space so that people arent looking directly out at a parking garage or into someone elses window. But the city definately needs to build a s…

I haven't been by it in awhile. I really do have to go and do another phototour, both of downtown and the northern tier. I've really been slacking, if I can motivate myself I'll get out tomorrow or Sunday.

Welcome to the site! I think many people shared your sentimate regarding Washington Sq, I'm still suprised it has taken this long for it to be reopened.

The most interesting commercial tennants have not officially been announced yet (im not sure if their leases are finalized,) there is supposed to be a "wine bar" and another "trendy" type bar and of course, a coffee shop.

Definately agree. Really Saginaw is falling apart all the way to just east of the mall. Delta Twp is feeling the crunch from Eastwood/northern tier, Holt and itself, further to the west. They really are going to have to do something with the eastern…

But West Saginaw near the mall is still nice and by I-96 its really booming. The areas near the factories has been on hard times for awhile now.

Just FYI, expect a low quality rennovation here. My dad has been in the building running fiber for the states offices. In talking with the contractors he found that they are not fixing the existing brick facade, not even the sagging parts. They are …

I dont see why they wouldn't. It would actually provide a benifit to the areas outside the immediate vicinity of Eastwood and the nicer neighborhoods just south and north of Willow. Most of the rest of the township is very poorly maintained, especia…

I like it, it really improves the "front door" look of the site. I also puts a lot more information right there on the homepage. Anyone else have an opinion on it?

Louisville, Ky has had some success I heard, It seems I heard of some other ones on the Urbanplanet forums also, but I can't remember off the top of my head.

The key is that this opens up the street to be redevoleped with retail and residential. I think we'll see something relatively soon, like next year.
-
I'm still really courious about how their headquarters will look, it has the potential to be a really impressive suburban office building.

Has anyone seen the firetruck that says "Metro Lansing Fire Dept" on it? Anyone know whats up with that? It's based out of the downtown station.
-
In other metro areas where cities and their surrounding communities merged it has been greatly benificial. They are able to attract more jobs larger facilities, it really helps to put them "on the map." Thats besides the savings of consolidating ser…

As much as I dislike it sprawl will probably forever continue to be where most development takes place, no matter what. So if sprawl can look like the northern tier and Eastwood Town Center and the cities are still being redeveloped to a reasonable …

I only assumed that would be the site for JC Pennys because of the construction equipment and because I know the Lowes was supposed to go there at first.

The Northern tier is definately sprawl as far as I'm concerned. Maybe not as bad as some of the scattered incoherent sprawl of so many other areas, but still sprawl. I will at least give East Lansing the credit for making development in the Northern…
