It looks like this project could finally get off the ground, or the developer could just be blowing smoke to get an extension for the site plan and special use permit. I'm skeptical of this project my self, but I certainly hope it really happens thi…

I'm glad to see at least a couple of the L&L stores finding new life. I'm even happier that the new owner plans to put some money into them because they really needed it. Too bad L&L had to mismanage their business.

On the Broad Museum's site they have some aerial pictures of the construction up: Broad Museum Photo Gallery

That sucks, but it's not surprising. I just about lost all hope when they started trying to lease out the remaining building on the site.

Wasn't a restaurant supposed to remodel that building a few years ago? Wenco properties has done a couple other projects in REO Town, I think. If there the ones I'm thinking they're some of the nicer buildings on that stretch.

I see now... I am surprised that Gillespie Group emailed me back. They've never even responded to my inquiries about their own projects, but they respond when I ask about a project that's not even theirs. Go figure.

I haven't seen seen what you're talking about, but it certainly sounds odd. I hope that if they feel there's that great of a need for the added security that they find a more permanent, nicer looking alternative to painted plywood. BTW, I sent an…

I forget when the development agreement said construction had to start, but I remember that the date was reliant on when the new City Market was completed (maybe it was within 12-18 months of completion?) I just hope this project doesn't end up …

Coalition pushes for casino in Lansing This is a story on the push for a Lansing casino. It really doesn't offer much new information, I'm still hopeful that this happens, but this effort may be getting thrown together too quickly to be successfu…

I doubt that they would have too much trouble getting the clearance needed. It only needs to be one or two feet higher, much of that could probably be gained by thinner girders. I do hope that date for rebuilding holds up though, that bridge is in p…

I just noticed a listing for this building: This a proposal by Gillespie to build a 3 floor mixed-use building at 1621 E Michigan Ave, at the NE corner of Shepard and Michigan, where the old gas station is. "New Mixed-use building with first…

I just found a section on EL's website with tons of info on their grant application to replace the Amtrack station. Here's the site: East Lansing - Tiger Here are some renderings and a site plan: I forgot what happened to this, I tho…

Just think if some of the Boys Training school buildings were left, they would of been great for reuse. Here's a picture of the main building:

I was disappointing to see the way Pruess' left the front of their building, I think all they did was power wash the brick and paint the wood over the windows. I'd have liked to see windows where there were windows before and some exterior lighting …

It really sucks to see the Temple Club project on hold. I would really like to see Old Towns influence spread in all directions, but I'd especially like to see it go east. You bring up an interesting point that the ORCA may be undermarketing that ea…

I would say the casinos have helped Detroit both economically and socially, although I would try to use Detroit or it's casinos as a benchmark for Lansing. I think that a casino would actually help more here than in Detroit. I think of the key benef…

Do you remember what the last start date he gave was? I thought he was saying spring or summer. Anyways, he could still offer parking on that site even while construction is going on. From my understanding the first phase of the project will only…

Casino Lansing? It looks like there's a new effort to bring a casino to Lansing, this time it appears to be a more locally oriented drive. I've wanted to see a casino in downtown Lansing for awhile now, so any effort is welcome news to me. I'm…

I'm not sure as to a specific timeline, but I'm pretty sure they plan on installing it sometime this spring/summer.

Here's an LSJ article from today discussing the sculpture that's going on the riverfront, near the City Market: Sculpture planned to embellish Lansing riverfront
