  • I also noticed that. I was wondering if they meant to include the new name in the article or if they didn't intend to mention it getting a new name. I don't have a clue what they would rename it.
  • Hopefully Gillespie follows through with the plans to begin construction on Market Place by the end of the year. I guess if we see them paving over the site for a parking lot we have something to be worried about.

  • It looks like it. It also looks like there may be some interesting exterior lighting.

  • I think this is a good idea. It would be nice to see the old armory saved and reused.
  • Cheesecake Factory isn't a restaurant or bar, is it?
  • I'm especially glad to hear of a potential restaurant tenant. I can't wait to hear more on that.
  • I agree with all your points except the one about the stadium, I look at Olds Park as the one thing we've done right, I don't think it could be any better given our city's size. The Lansing Center is an embarrassment, and a simple expansion won't ch…

  • I understand that philanthropists are responsible for most of Grand Rapids' success. That doesn't make Lansing any better though, I just find it very disappointing that none of Lansing's wealthier residents (past or present) have done anything to he…

  • I know, seeing projects like that in a city as similar as Grand Rapids makes me want to give up on Lansing. We really need to get our act together if we're ever going to be competitive.

  • Shopping and Skating The city is applying for a grant to build a year-round outdoor skating rink near the City Market. This would be another great addition to that area.

  • Looking closer at the birds eye view, I'm pretty sure the lake is the bottom of a large shallow gravel pit. the edges of the lake look steep and rough. The hospice is near there and I remember that being inside the pit also. The Sonic is supposed…
  • Yeah, I meant Beekman. I didn't think about horseback riding though, that makes sense. Looking closer at the area, is Bear Lake the remnants of a gravel pit? I remember there being one in that area, but I haven't been back there in over 10 years.
  • I agree that Larry Page being from here won't help us out much. He hasn't done anything for this area so far, so I don't see why he would start now, its kinda disappointing really.
  • I had no idea, I'll have to go by there soon.
  • Thats good to hear. I can't find the article online, did you see it in the print edition?
  • I had never heard of Bear Lake Natural Area, but I'm looking at a satellite view and it looks like theres a trail leading into the woods behind Bingham School at the end of Wabash St. I'd actually like to check that out some time.
  • Lansing's Crego park, closed for contamination in '86, may reopen I would love to see this park reopened, my parents had talked about it being closed years ago. I was always curious what was back there.
  • I sorta figured that. This is one that I expect to see move forward in the future though. Its a large project backed by a major development company, it's just a matter of when the credit market gets better.
