  • The Chavez "sculpture" is not what I was expecting. If that is, it ends up looking like what's in the picture. For some reason I had this picture of a statue of the guy, like Sparty, but less muscle-y.
  • Don't get me wrong, I like Famous Taco too. They have the best black beans of any mexican place in Lansing. And their queso dip is awesome. But I am a Skyline fanatic!!
  • I don't know, there's about 50-billion coffee shops opening up too, they can't all sustain business at the same time can they?
  • I was taking another look at that picture of the skyline, and got a little bit of a chuckle. All that Lansing iconography, the Capital building, Boji tower, the power plants, and...... a giant hotdog billboard.
  • I think that it was mainly the location that was the problem, but I also think that it was a largely misunderstood restaurant. Most people hear chili and think the same thing you do. But Skyline is actually "Cincinatti-style" chili. Which is a gr…
  • That's one of those buildings downtown that looks scary unstable to me. The brick work is cracked an crooked (if I'm thinking of the right building). It's amazing what can be saved and rebuilt. Along with news about that corner, the fantastic an…
  • Is that the bridge on Cedar, just before the industrial and older retail area?
  • Dude, Jared, is that you in those pictures?? I've been in class with you at MSU, CSE 331 last semester. I'm the bald guy, (but I where a hat a lot). Weird...
  • No, the crazy looking building the police precinct is in. With the weird angled roof line. I went there a while ago and the whole middle of the building was still empty. Was it build exclusively for the LPD? I suppose that was a while ago though…
  • Speaking of that area, what's the story behind the building the police precinct is in? It seems like such a strange (and large) building to have been built, and yet be largely unoccupied?
  • It's WONDERFUL!! I can't help but wonder though, how they're going to replace all that lost revenue from cheap speeding tickets.
  • I'm originally from Coldwater, and for many years there was a JC Penney downtown location. But it shutdown in the mid-90's. They had talked about moving to a different part of town, but there wasn't really anything suitable.
  • Pardon my ignorance, but where is the Clarion? I know I've seen it, but for the life of me I can't place it anywhere.
  • I suppose that's true about freeway exist gas stations. But I still have never understood Marathons consistent overpricing. The one over by me in Delta township is 1/4 mile from a Shell, and a Speedway, and is consistently 5 to 10 cents more per g…
  • What Trowbridge really needs is a quality gas station. I'm pretty sure that Marathon closed up because they were consistently more expensive than most of the other gast stations in the area (I think it's a trend among Marathon stations). As a comm…
  • I think its a great place for a hotel, but it seems like a strange location for a "Hilton". I realize the brand has languished in the last few years, but Trowbridge isn't at all what I would picture as a location for a Hilton hotel.
  • Grand Ave parking ramp?
  • I was driving downtown today and noticed that there's a construction sign on the corner of MLK and Kalamazoo. I didn't get a very good look at it, but from what I could tell it was for a 3 story office building at that corner. Anyone heard anythin…
  • This has nothing to do with development, but did anyone else watch the council meeting this week? What was with the guy talking about his toilet/stool? I just choked on the soup I was eating. I couldn't believe that (or even understand how) someo…
  • I watched the City Council meeting, and was really surprised at the number of people that came out in support of the Deluxe Inn. That place is a dump, I can't understand why anyone wants it there. Of course, the meetings bring out all kinds of cra…
