  • I was by Frandor today, and noticed that Ranny Park is all dug up! These projects keep going despite all, it is going to really fun to watch this project being built.
  • They are moving on this, elevator towers and stairwells are going up along with the first floor studs on the building at Clippert & Michigan while it looks like the foundation is complete for the senior apartments behind it. There's also a crane that appears to be doing foundation work for the hotels.
  • Just a note of progress at this site. I noticed the elevator towers stand higher than 127 as seen from Michigan Ave heading east. It really struck me as to how big this development is. They are laying a brick facade that looks good for the easternmost buildings facing Michigan Ave, but I'm thinking that will only go up a few stories. I am hoping that the hotels will have a more interesting look and contemperary designs.

Ranney Park sledding hill is closed until 2022 as part of the drain project.

Story from Lansing City Pulse here. Apparently, a lot of work has already been done in the south of the park.
  • University Edge at MSU started leasing for the Fall, so we now know the student apartment portion of this will be done by then. Here are some pictures from their facebook page:

  • The have added signage to the tops of the eastern building which they are calling University Edge. Not the greatest name IMO but it looks good. They also put up signage at The Graduate Hotel down the street. The building at the Red Cedar project on the south west corner is being built differently than the others, seems to have more steel in the structure.
  • It may be overly critical on my part, however I saw the new decorative lamps that they have put up on the street facing walls of the University Edge buildings. They look really small and out of scale for the space and look like they came from Home Depot, [kind of cheap] .The lamps look OK just disappointing to me.
  • I may be wrong about this but I believe that they were beginning to pull up some of the black top behind the Red Lobster for the drain project. This is a very interesting project to me, I noticed that the earth scaping in the park looks nearly finished and one of the ponds was filling with water. Frandor's parking lot my become a tourist attraction!
  • Yes, earlier this week they shutdown Clippert between Grand River and Fernwood to widen the part of the drain that runs beneath the area; it's going to mean less flooding around that part of Frandor.
  • I'm incredibly happy just to see that Clippert will be repaved, that block was in horrible shape, another nice bonus of this drain project.
