  • I'm sure everyone's already seen, but they've started demolition. Must've gotten their permit with no fight from the city...

  • I saw they were tearing down Eastern today:{

    Very telling that they've been discussing this for years, and they haven't even released a preliminary rendering of site plan of what they propose to put here.

    I've been out of country for the last week watching from afar. I am beyond disgusted. This place is a shithole, run by the smallest minds imaginable. The fact that the "either/or" argument was bought by most people fills me with dread.

    The only responses I have are expletive-laced, so I'll just leave it at that.
  • At last night's game Spartan basketball game, the U of M proved again that they don't really care about our traditions or history here in Greater Lansing and then to just pretend like they did not know about our traditions and history is ingenuous. We may never be another Ann Arbor with 4-million-dollar condos downtown, I don't think we at the shithole statice "yet", we are a true community where some of us have strong feelings about our city and our university. It really too bad that our leaders seem to have such limited imaginations and are so willing to downsize and submit to rich bullies.
  • While visiting the Urgent Care at Sparrow I saw an announcement that said they are moving that department to the former Rite Aid on Pennsylvania. I think this is a good move as there may be parking right outside the door rather than having to park in the ramp.

    There is literally parking RIGHT at the door on the first floor of the garage. It couldn't be anymore convenient.

    Edit: Reading the project page on this one on the city property website:
    UMH - SPARROW is a renovation of an existing one-story retail/commercial building into an outpatient clinic facility. The clinic and occupational health departments will include a waiting room, exam rooms, procedure rooms, nurse station, support spaces, an X-ray room, and a retail pharmacy. The project will be completed in two phases: Phase 1 – Pharmacy and Phase 2 – Clinic and Occupational Health Departments.

    I guess that's Sparrow's urgent ("Clinic") operation without explicitly naming it as such. I do kind of question whether there is enough room in such a building for both the urgent care and occupational health operations? This seems to be putting them on top of each other. The occupational health operations are in the building next door to the Ronald McDonald House. So it's not like they had to be moved. Seems to me that you'd want a standalone unit - and a larger one - for your urgent care.
