Is the house to the north still there? I'm not sure how out of date the Google Streetview is.

I'm pretty sure the Vernor's sign is still in place but covered by the new building. This article gives more background, http://campusarch.msu.edu/?p=4063

Wow that is a really interesting story. It's not as deep-reaching historically but when the City Center was being built in East Lansing at the corner of MAC and Grand River an old advertisement for Vernors was uncovered. It was great to see the hist…

Yeah I was going to say the same. Decisions like that are deliberate lol

Thanks for posting the update! The city should take the opportunity to update the stoplight here from a cable suspension to the metal pole version. The metal pole version looks so much better.

EastLansingInfo is wondering whether the reason for the 160 foot overlay across all of downtown is for a yet-to-be-announced proposal on Lot 11 behind Peanut Barrel at the corner of Albert and Bailey. This parking lot is privately owned and lease…

Seeing these pictures shows how massive this site is! I feel really bad for the area around the old hospital. I wonder how long the old hospital will sit vacant before someone finds a new use for the building or the land.

That's great to hear! The page for the Y site is at https://develop.metrolansing.com/discussions/discussion/87/metro-place-formerly-reutter-park-place-formerly-the-lenawee

That's great to hear. Thanks for the follow up.

I hope the city looks back on the removal of all of those trees as a huge mistake. They should never have gone ahead with that removal without the land actually transferring hands and the plans approved with financing in place.

New York City has an awesome law that requires construction sites to post a "What's going on here" sign as well as a rendering, who to contact, etc. This page has some details, https://www1.nyc.gov/site/buildings/safety/construction-site-signage…

Yeah, even though it is no different I still wish we would prioritize pedestrian access. Other cities are able to pull it off. Especially in this area there is no crosswalk east of the project for a couple blocks. So someone who is a little slower m…

Very nicely done! 👏👏👏 This is a great format for a small urban grocer, especially as they will soon have to compete with Target.
-
So is that sidewalk completely inaccessible now for pedestrians? Will pedestrians be forced to cross to the north side of Michigan Ave to continue?
-
Oh sorry, I guess I should have clicked on the picture.
-
Did you take that picture recently? Looking inside of the windows on the second floor it looks like I can see metal wall studs.
-
Yeah I agree gbd. I would prefer if they looked more at density, access to public utilities and transportation, and traffic concerns.

This will be quite the block with Harper's, Jolly Pumpkin, and Hopcat. I hope Harper's doesn't suffer too much, I remember reading somewhere that they were complaining about the loss of business due to the construction.
