The article said that the weekly fee was $50. I'm surprised that this list across from MSU was free for so long. The parking should be free if you can show the ticket stub for the train.

An article on LSJ.com today is talking about parking here being $10/day now, whereas before it was free. It says that parking is controlled by MSU and that Amtrak has no say in the parking rate. This is the highest rate in Michigan along the route.

Construction on Okemos Pointe is scheduled to begin next month. $67M Okemos project to start in January has more details.

Very cool that the response is so quick!

I am a firm believer that if the city removed it's residency requirements and allowed student housing to be built, these buildings would be built immediately without any need for brownfield funds or other tax incentives. There is continued construct…

I wonder what those things are on the cement in the middle. It would be cool if as part of this project they bricked the pillars of the stadium so they all match the new addition. I think that would be the easiest way to make this look better.

The south end of Spartan Stadium will be getting a new one-story building to expand the concessions area, upgrade the bathrooms, and increase the plaza space. The LSJ includes a rendering, but I wish it didn't look so much like a bunker. Subtracting…

The Interdisciplinary Science and Technology Building will be built at the corner of Service and Bogue Road by the Clinic, which makes sense but I really wish all of these buildings were built closer to central campus. Campus is continually pushing …

Do the residents of that section just need to vote to annex into Lansing or East Lansing? How do they propose a ballot proposal like that? Do they approach the township, city of Lansing, or state?

There is a purchase agreement for the office portion of the Marriott building in East Lansing for $3.25 million. I haven't heard anything more about who the purchaser is or what they plan on doing with the office portion once the sale goes through.

I had heard on Thanksgiving about Tony Sacco's closing. Apparently they closed on the 21st or so while there was food still in the ovens and being prepared. I only went to Max & Erma's a couple times and I didn't think it was special enough to w…

The link to the plan that you just posted doesn't work, maybe the URL has changed? I actually doubt we'll see a new updated master plan relatively soon now that we know how short of cash and staff the township's planning department is.

It seems the false rooftops, or "fake heliports" as I think of them, are the cheaper 201X version of cornices. I was looking at buildings in downtown Flint yesterday and some of them have very beautiful cornices at the top of the building, sort of a…

While we may see more than 10% living there, maybe closer to 20% due to a selection bias in prices, it is our unconscious bias that makes us disproportionately notice people that are different than ourselves. For every "Chinese" student that we noti…

Can they just put in free standing lights similar to the street lamps that already go down Michigan Ave? This way there is nothing "touching" the bridge? They could even put in something that acts like a giant umbrella under the bridge, supported in…

I don't think it is fair to say that the majority of students living in Skyvue will be Chinese. Chinese students make up just over 10% of MSU's undergraduate population (East Asian influx slowly changes East Lansing), so if you project that percenta…

I have heard that Sparrow's new cafeteria is run by Aramark, the same company that handles food for prisons and has had numerous news stories related to cleanliness and interactions between their staff and the prisoners. Can anyone confirm that this…

The Gillespie Company posted a new rendering of the East Town Flats to their Facebook page 10 days ago. This shows Strange Matter Coffee as one of the tenants and toned down colors compared to some of the other projects built recently in Lansing …

I was at NCG last night and afterwards went across the parking lot to Chapelure for a cup of tea. I was surprised to see how busy the coffee shop was (I counted about 15 people sitting there) on a Saturday night considering it's located in the far b…

The City Council has been busy these past few meetings passing ordinances that were requested by the Park District developers. It seems that the city is finally at the point where they will relax some of the zoning requirements and let something get…
