  • Yeah, it was actually called Triple Goddess Bookstore (I updated my comment above to fix the name). Here's a picture of it from Flickr user Eridony, titled The Triple Goddess Bookstore The house was on the Michigan Historic Register as the D…
  • The big loser in the project is the house that was built in 1870 which got torn down by Douglas J since they let it fall apart after buying it. This used to be the Goddess Book Shop Triple Goddess Bookstore.
  • Welcome to the forum MSUFTW! I didn't know about that project before, thanks for sharing! Do you know the addresses of the apartment buildings / duplexes? If you find that, it's possible to look up some of the details on the Assessor's website. I wi…
  • Great pictures, thanks for sharing. It took me a minute to put perspective on the top image. I'm curious to see how the Frandor parking lot could change. It's just cut off in the picture on the bottom left and doesn't appear to be part of this proje…
  • Nice, great to see bike lanes put in. The road looks really good. Next step would be to clean up the sidewalks (at least sweep them) and add more placemaking elements like benches.
  • Didn't the closing of the Cadillac Club go hand-in-hand with the furniture business burning down? Or was one before the other?
  • Welcome to the forum Quakerrocker!
  • I think this is showing that the BWL has too much control. They're basically blackmailing Lansing in to converting this park to a substation, and threatening rate hikes if it's not converted. But even if it's converted, where's the signed contract t…
  • My interpretation is this will be patchwork. We'll see though. Great to hear something will be done. Would have been nice to have gotten this done before the Capital City River Run half-marathon and marathon where we had close to 3,000 people runnin…
  • Oh okay, thanks for the correction. Hopefully we see some good infill on Frandor Plus then.
  • The way that this was built without public funds shows the amount of demand for student housing close to Michigan State. It greatly increases the land value of Sears and will likely lead to a similar development on the Sears property in the next 5-1…
  • The solution to cutting down the trees is to bury the power lines. Lansing, and the State of Michigan government, need to make large-scale infrastructure plans to move power lines underground. The changes will create jobs for the work needed, and cr…
  • Lol @ your "terrible" sentence. I would love for our roads (and intercity-transit too! hint: caltrain) to be as good as they are in the Bay Area.
  • To be fair, California roads don't deal with the contraction/expansion of the ground as they do in Michigan with the seasons. The salt on the roads and the plows scraping deteriorates them faster too.
  • I hope they don't create a 3-4 lane road. The 20/20 plan is about making the campus easier for pedestrians and bicyclists and that would be the wrong direction.
  • Yeah, I agree that there's not much foot traffic but when we look at necessary infrastructure it seems to always make sense to centrally locate new developments. In downtown Lansing the AT&T building once was filled with phone switches, but a…
  • My desire to place the Data Center closer to Grand River is to increase the amount of people working on or near Grand River. This building doesn't need to be standalone, and could have other offices or small ground-floor retail, though MSU doesn't u…
  • MSU just approved $46 million for a new data center on campus, but it's going to be on Crescent Road near the old MSUFCU headquarters. I wish it could have been closer to central campus or downtown. http://statenews.com/article/2016/09/trustees-d…
  • The LSJ is reporting that units should be move-in ready in February. Most of the article is about Chappelle advertising an August move-in but then pushing it back to February after some delays with approvals. There are assumptions and posturing in t…
  • Yeah, East Lansing Info's reporting is more optimistic, but it's not too far off from the LSJ report. The news here is that the developers are still trying to push forward and hope to submit plans to the Planning Commission in the next two weeks. I …
