  • That's great, thanks for posting this here since the media missed it.
  • That's great to hear! Did you see anything else that let you knew that it is still moving forward?
  • Do you think a pedestrian crossing stoplight there could be useful? That would certainly make it easier for pedestrians to cross Michigan Ave without having to walk to either corner. It looks like they may be planning for one based on the pedestrian…
  • Wow that roundabout uses a ton of space and it's all car-focused. It would be nice if the renderings showed how CATA, pedestrians, and cyclists will interact with this. For example, the extra turning lane on Michigan Ave will make it harder for pede…
  • I'm gonna guess that it's getting rezoned towards actually using it for a warehousing. Maybe something like the Meijer warehouse on Creyts Road. It would be great if it were an Amazon distribution center.
  • As I understand it, anything that was owned by City Center Two Project LLC is now known as Park District Investment Group, LLC. The other properties in the area are owned by DTN, unless they gave the properties back to the city when they said they c…
  • I think it's silly that there were even fences to begin with. Buildings in large cities like New York can operate just fine without fences. Some of them use large planters and others have pedestrian benches to stop people from driving cars into the …
  • Are they going to take down the steel fence that is surrounding MSP? The headquarters looks more like a jail than an office building.
  • What rail is that use to exist at the old depot in reotown or where claras is in the sparrow district? Ah! Good point, I forgot about that line.
  • Mrlansing, you are exceptionally good at finding duplicate threads. Sigh... (see http://develop.metrolansing.com/forum/comments.php?DiscussionID=151 for the other thread)
  • In reply to http://develop.metrolansing.com/forum/comments.php?DiscussionID=147&page=1#Item_8, It's going to be *very* hard for Amtrak to ever get downtown. The right-of-ways don't exist, and CSX and CN have no reasons to extend rail to downt…
  • Huh, there actually was already a thread on this. Somehow we ended with two threads about the Capital Area Multi Modal Gateway. I'm closing this thread and moving discussions back to the original thread.
  • The LSJ is now reporting that this project is back on the move. Demolition of the YMCA is slated for Spring, and a 20 million dollar mixed use (residential+retail) will take its place. "Metro Place will be a four-story structure including 156 apartm…
  • Yeah there are probably enough parking spaces, except there are a large amount of people that aren't willing to walk more than 1 block from their car to their destination :-/ The Marriott has two floors of underground parking, and two ramps on MS…
  • Both HopCat and the Marriott are 8 stories so I don't think 10 stories is that much different. Spartan Stadium is 160ft tall (equivalent to 13-16 stories tall). What safety concerns do you have with underground parking?
  • Oh that's a good observation! Ok so this rendering has both buildings that are in the project. Well if it ever get it off the ground it would be really cool. Not gonna hold my breath but I'll keep dreaming for it.
  • That building on the right-side of the picture isn't part of the proposal though, right? It's just an artist rendition of what that corner could turn into in the future?
  • That looks pretty good. I would prefer more brick than the stucco-looking siding for most of the building. But the density and street frontage is on par with what I would hope.
  • According to the LSJ article, it hasn't hit the City Council yet. Quoting, "Sparrow wrote in a rezoning request to the city of Lansing. The project's rezoning request will have a public hearing Dec. 2 before the city's planning board."
  • Two big news items today for Lansing. 1. Sparrow has announced plans for a new Cancer Wing at their Michigan Ave campus. It will be located across the street on the Bingham Elementary property that they purchased. The office building will be 5-st…
