Oh wow that is interesting. I didn't know they were planning an outlet from the parking garage on to the bridge. Seems like a really odd choice of an exit ramp.

The LSJ is reporting that Eyde still wants to go ahead on the redevelopment of the Knapps building. They say that they have gotten tips from HUD on what changes they need to make to their grant and hope that it will be rewarded in the second pass.

The MSU Board of Trustees approved the construction of the new MSUFCU branch at Mt Hope and Farm Lane. Colleen McNamara was the sole trustee to vote against it, citing the poor choice of location. I agree with Trustee McNamara. The location of th…

The LSJ is reporting today that IBM is going to exercise its lease option and expand to use the full building that it is currently located. This will, in effect, push the MSUFCU branch out of the building. MSUFCU says that they are looking to pur…

Well it looks like the Ice Skating rink isn't too likely to happen. The LSJ is reporting today of a new sculpture to be placed at what looks like the site of the ice rink. The sculpture is being purchased using private funds and will cost about $275…

I read over on the Red Cedar Message Board that Five Guys will be opening October 7th.

The FRIB project has received approval to continue with the design and planning phase of the project. This phase is expected to consume the 2011-2012 fiscal year and will cost about $55 million. There is also a new rendering of the NSCL expansion on…

I read somewhere that Google has now decided upon two cities, but there was no announcement of which cities those were. They did mention that the connection speed would be gigabit connections. I'm keeping my fingers crossed its Lansing/East Lansing.

Progress is moving forward on the Five Guys location on Grand River. When I went by today I noticed that they had their decorative tiling up on the walls. They are scheduled to open in September. Also, a reminder that construction of the Art Muse…

It's too bad the project won't move forward. Getting the Knapps building project off the ground could be one of the large turning points for the next step of downtown.

The project is behind Suburban Ice. They clear cut the forest that was back there. I don't think there is a commercial component, the developers are relying on Hannah Plaza to provide commercial amenities.

@hood, I didn't realize nothing was posted about the Lodges of East Lansing here. This is being built by Capstone, the same group that built what is now called Abbot Place (on Abbot Road, north of Lake Lansing). They also wanted to build student apa…

A structure like this would have a lot of the same complaints that we dealt with when getting the skatepark built. Putting it over by Calkins Paint could make that part of the River Trail cooler and provide more business for Calkins :-)

I think the part over by the playground is specifically barren because they are hoping to get funding for the ice skating rink.

I rode on Gillespie's river boat yesterday from the Jazz Fest to the Lansing Center. The price was only $1 each way per person. I was surprised that it was such a good deal. The boat was packed and at some times there were too many people in line to…

I think it would be nice to see a permanent location for legal graffiti in Lansing, somewhat akin to the graffiti walls on Venice Beach in California.

It's a free concert, but I'm pretty sure you will have to pay to enter the beer tent.

I got an email press release today about the JazzFest this weekend. Anybody going? I should be there. Lansing, MI (August 2, 2010) – The 16th annual Lansing JazzFest (held August 6-7) will offer attendees an educational experience, thanks to the M…

This is the third Five Guys in the state that I know of. The first was in Southfield and the second is in Greektown, Detroit. I too think it is a good sign.

Five Guys restaurant will be opening a location in East Lansing in the former Take Two Authentics location on Grand River. They plan to start construction today and open in September.
