I don't think so. I think ideally people wouldn't have to commute 1.5 hours to get to work. To me that doesn't sound pleasant at all. I think the type of residents that the Lansing area as a whole would like to attract would live, work, and entertai…

I agree. That corridor is growing fast, and a development on the other side of the street would have been nice. I think it's only a short matter of time before something is announced at the old Sawyer's Pontiac site. Right next to the National City …

The Dollar Night club started demolition today, as reported by the LSJ. They didn't mention a replacement for the site, saying that two proposals for apartments and a bar/restaurant were rejected.

There's two large proposals coming before the Planning Commission on January 14th. GreenStone Farm Credit Services is looking to build a ~75,000 sq ft headquarters on West Road and Branoff Investment Group plans to build 60 units and 18,000 sq ft of…

Welcome to the site Q. Do you think that if City Hall is proposed for a new location, the current one would be converted to office? It seems that the added office space would make it harder for the Lenewee to come in.

I'm pretty sure that he got the bond money. The City has been trying to do whatever they can to make sure that this project will succeed.

The Board of Water and Light is considering different options to pursue with the North Lansing Dam. The LSJ has an article about it. The four options listed are to maintain it in it's current state, convert it to a hydro-electric dam, remove the top…

I've added a "Contingent Projects" category to the home page, updated the accident fund picture, and also fixed the RSS feed for the City Pulse.

Ok, it seems like another category could be "Contingent Projects" and have much less website visibility.

Thanks LMich. I'll update them pretty soon. Let me know if you see anything else that needs to be fixed or new information added.

The roof makes it look a little like the current city market. It's interesting how the rivertrail will change the material used near the city market and extend over the river. From the LSJ article today: LEPFA officials said they will finalize …

There is a proposal to rezone some land on 3515 West Rd from Residential Acreage to B-4 Restricted Office Business District for the construction of the GreenStone Farm Credit Services headquarters. I'm not sure how much land is in question, but t…

The LSJ today had a small photo spread on their front page saying the demolition of the burned-down building on Kalamazoo should be finished by the end of the week. Photos of the demolition can be found on lsj.com.

Tomorrow's City Council meeting will decide on Ordinance 1199, which is a proposal to rezone 3.8 acres near the intersection of Louis St and Michigan Ave. This ordinance was brought forward by Community Resource Management Company. If this ordina…

I have gone through and updated a lot of the project pages with smaller image sizes and fixed some typos. I also renamed some of the projects to bring them up to date. Let me know if there are other things to add. I'll try and add a project page …

I think they were talking about the current office expansion that is set to be completed in 2009. They were saying that final construction planning is starting and they should get shovels in the ground in 2013.

Here is a graphic from the Lansing State Journal showing the FRIB expansion footprint:
