  • Went back through some old township meetings and found that this is the site of a proposed Home Place Suites Extended Stay by Marriott hotel.
  • What's going up on the northeast corner of Wood & Sam's Way in Eastwood northeast of the circle? A stair/elevator core is already up.
  • My feeling is that the mayor was behind this, so this wouldn't be brought unless they had polled on this behind the scenes, and it was favorable to them. The interviews in the City Pulse article, though, skew this as a hard sell, but that may have b…
  • BTW, the council voted to put the Lansing Township annexation on the November ballot, tonight. Lots of good questions asked, and the mayor came with info. Saw WLNS reported incorrectly on the debt the city would take on; it's $6 million of the total…
  • Here it is: https://develop.metrolansing.com/discussions/discussion/comment/14542#Comment_14542
  • No, there was a proposal for one on West that originally included a dispensary, too. They were trying to do a lot split or consolidation or something, becuase the other parcel didn't have street frontage, but the planning commission denied them.
  • I'm guessing this is the same project that originally included a MJ dispensary, but they couldn't get that part of it approved.
  • Weird; the meeting has been cancelled and the packet removed. Did I ruin this? lol This was the first time for this project to be seen. They weren't asking for a rezoning or anything like that, so there was no other reason for it to have come up …
  • Board of Zoning Appeals packet for this weeks shows a major variance being requested for a project. Developers are looking to build a 10-story, 135 feet tall building at the northeast corner of Grand River Avenue & the Grand River a block from t…
  • It's not strange they'd want to maximize the plot; it's strange that the other business is a storage facility. There is no zoning anywhere in the Lansing area that would allow this by-right and for good reason. In fact, proposing something so ridicu…
  • Well, they've started to flesh this out, and now we have a proposed site. It would rise directly north of the current Washington Avenue Office Complex where most of the City Clerk's operations are, now. Currently, its occupied by a surface parking l…
  • Yes, on the open lot immediately north of Roma. As for the second item, I think you're talking about the two-way conversion for downtown streets? They were working on that today when I was down there.
  • Went and did a bit of research. It looks like they don't just own the lot, which is only 2.6 acres, but everything down the block to the Alano Club and it's properties. That gives you 3.6 acres. And just looking at an aerial, you might be able to fi…
  • Slight - but important correction - reread it and it seems that they have the land under contract for BOTH a hotel & self-storage facility. I just don't see how those two things are compatible, particularly since the site isn't a huge one. And I…
  • Stadium North Lofts is moving ahead. The city council agenda, this weeks, has the setting of a public hearing for an amended PILOT for the project up for approval. It's been amended to take into account the spike in construction prices since origina…
  • Ugh. Looking through the late-June township board minutes, developers Dymaxion are proposing a self-storage unit at Howard and Michigan (Michigan Flyer site), though earlier it's mentioned that a hotel could be part of the plan, which makes absolute…
  • Can't make it all out, but, wow, this is much better than what I was expecting. I thought they may try to get away with something like that pollbarn Niowave built up on Seymour. lol
  • Well, that was quick. The council called a special meeting to approve the brownfield plan for the Neogen expansion on Shiawassee: https://twitter.com/wilxTV/status/1549152071953399813
  • This is from last last month, but the airport is planning to expand its cargo apron by 400,000 sq ft to be able to increase its cargo capacity for future cargo traffic: https://www.lansingstatejournal.com/story/news/2022/06/30/capital-region-inte…
  • It's a no from me, too. To spring this very close to the deadline of putting this on the ballot with so few details is very clearly tactic, and an unethical one at that.
