I was by here earlier today and was able to get a closer look at it. I'd only really seen it from Allegan, but on closer inspection it looks like they are using the same hardy board they've been using on other projects. I'd thought they were actuall…

This is actually going to share the rest of the empty retail space in the eastern half of the first floor next to the Bigby drive-thru. They are still planning to turn the rest of the retail on the west side of the building into three-or-four effec…

Yeah, the apartment buildings across from the Capitol Complex shocked me. It was my understanding they were supposed to be faced in brick, or at least a brown color. At the moment, they look INCREDIBLY cheap, and certainly not something befitting th…

I go by it fairly regularly. It's quite popular, already. My only worry about it right now is COVID. I think I saw on social media them asking if the park's department cleans it and they said no and would suggest people bring their own wipes and suc…

Lansing Twitter is saying Capital City Market will open in October. I do not doubt it. I see that they've already done most of the wiring in the market as the lights are on, now. It will almost certainly open before the apartments and hotel are comp…

Here's a public safety committee describing what the city was working with the owner on to clean up the plaza from June of last year: https://www.lansingmi.gov/AgendaCenter/ViewFile/Agenda/_06062019-2648 It sounds like things were going well a…

So looking back through the comments, it looks like I last spoke about 1921-1925 West Holmes Road - this is just east of Pleasant Grove - way back in January 2019. I drove by that way today, and it looks like the 30-unit (10 in 3 buildings) townhom…

I've always thought the council was too small, so I'm excited to hear about expanding it. Heck, even a dinky general law township has to have five members; East Lansing is more than large enough to justify a council larger than 5 members.

I think you misunderstand. Short of them having to buy property from the homes along the riverbank - which is never going to happen - or putting a boardwalk in, their plan for the trail extension is simply to use Moores River Drive as a shared road…

Well, the two vacant council seats have been filled: https://twitter.com/thesnews/status/1289649153052520448 East Lansing City Council made history Saturday with the appointment of two new council members, creating the first council with pe…

Cliff, do you know if they are going to keep the same configuration (i.e. two lanes with paved shoulder)? I've always been kind of annoyed this area of town doesn't have a lot of curbs-and-gutters.

It's used quite a bit. I'm down there fairly often. It's been open for weeks, but I guess they just officially announced it.

Ugh. Two-way street conversion still happening in downtown Lansing but not this summer LANSING – Plans to convert six one-way downtown Lansing streets to two-way have been delayed because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Previously, city official…
