Thanks for the history, now that I look at it on google I can see the changes. Now they could repave from Grand Ave to the western end of the highway, then I would think about using it.

Now that they are calling the river trail improvements "the big fix" it reminded me of a few years back when they called a project "The Big Fix 496" or something like that, [I did not live here then], I have been wondering just what did they fix? I …

I am hoping that we do not see that pole barn standing there for years while people who say they want to keep it have their way and we all get to subsidize a bar and a 3/4 empty building. After the substation deal [even though that was intera-city …

Very good news! Is Bear Lake in the woods west 127? It looks quite deep on the google maps photo, I wonder if it was a gravel pit or a natural lake? It is so cool that we have a hidden lake in our city.

It's true this is an isolated area for pedestrians, and stores on Harrison and Jolly are more than a mile from this site so retail would be almost necessary unless they are planning a totally auto-dependent development.

It was an Arby's and I went there some back in college during the late 70's, but I thought the "roast beef" was weird, I did like the hash brown potato squares. Back then this block had lots of shade trees a little bus station and I think the first …

This corner of Lansing always seemed like a good place for development, it is so great to see the hospital have an impact before it is built. I think there where plans published a while ago with a "Northern Lodge" style design, is this the same deve…

I am sorry to see that some people will lose their jobs, but this whole market and its location was a bad idea from the start. Whatever the city does with that space it needs to add value and actually be used by people. I saw people working on the…

Great news that part of Penn. Ave was very bad! Pave On!

Why would the Mayor feel he has to keep plans for City Market secret? They often seem eager to announce plans for projects that never get off paper, what is different about this situation? Expanded parkland sounds right to me perhaps with concession…

How nice it could look if they built new streets and sidewalks here as well.

The LSJ.com wrote today about a sculpture to be placed in the downtown rotary at Michigan and Washington. They are offering 100k! to the artist, they pick as the winner of a design competition. The artist must fund their sculpture with that money an…

It is interesting to see that mother nature is forcing the state to make road repairs! Maybe she can buckle up the whole of 496 it might be the only way they will ever repave what I think is a rather dangerous and poorly maintained freeway.

The LSJ has an article about the downtown to Frandor bike path today. It sounds like it is going to be another great way to bike around Lansing.

I noticed work being done on the Federal/PO Building downtown. I have always thought the yellow stone facade of that building was unique and interestingly different from the sandstone of the Capitol Building. The blocks of stone they have down on th…

I'm taking, Seymour, and Pine, to from Old Town to REOtown for a smooth ride! In Old Town, once you get past N. Washington the streets in every direction are very bad. It is confusing where Grand River meets Grand River and also turns into Willow an…

That has been a dumpy little store for at least 40 years, it must have been a filling station at one time. There was once a really great little supermarket at Kalamazoo and Logan/MLK which was very busy all the time. It will be good to have a market…

I could see modern brick pavement on N. Washington. Capitol Ave is a real moonscape as well. I wonder how they chose, I would start with the block the Capitol is on and move out in ever larger squares from there. I like that the plan includes Ceasar…

I meant "worst streets" that are getting worse!:} Also I wonder why they left a few blocks out of the repaving of Pine Street?

I noticed that they are going to repave Seymour Street! This is good news as that street is one of the many worse streets in Lansing. I was wondering if the repaving plans had increased above earlier plans do to added funds by the state?
