  • I noticed the same bracing, but the lack of windows is not what I'm worried about. From what I can tell there will be plenty of windows on the building, and perhaps some other ornamentation on the facade.

  • I'm a little disappointed that the kitchen and pavilion were dropped from the plans, but if the Market proves viable, it's fairly likely that those will be added at a later date, along with an expansion. If the market does not succeed then I guess w…

  • Just to clarify my point of view, I like the idea of a new market and I like the size and shape of the new design. To me the only real disappointment is the facade. That being said I'm trying to hold off judgement until I see the finished product be…

  • The renderings certainly do make it look that way. If that does turn out to be the facade it will be pitiful, lets hope for the best, even if it's a partial brick facade.

  • I have a bad feeling that the corrugated metal is the facade. Looking at how it's colored different to bottom would suggest that. That being said I really, really hope that I'm wrong. As for the pavilion, that will be easy enough to build at a la…
  • I would honestly just like to see it come down. I think it would still make a nice site, (along with the lot next door) for the library and Impression 5, or even a new City Hall, should one get built.
  • They started putting up steel for Troppo this afternoon, it looks like the structure could be done this week.
  • It is nice to see that all the good news for the area hasn't just been a smokescreen, it's a real indicator of whats going on. Come to think of it the only really bad news coming out of the area in the past few years were the GM plant closures, at l…
  • They started putting up the corrugated metal sides last week, and they're horribly ugly. I'm going to wait to pass judgment until the overall design becomes more clear. But if what they have up now is any indication of the final product, our City Ma…
  • I fully expected the State to by this building before the lease was up, but they're really doing this quick. I wonder how much money they will really be saving after paying one years lease, buying the building for $52 million ($7 million more than i…
  • Any idea why Grand Rapids is missing from that list? They would be the ones I'd expect to be about on par with Lansing economically. This does look like good news for Lansing. It's also good to note that it looks like Lansing's economy will continue…
  • Well, we had heard that 400 workers would possibly be moving into the old AF building, I think with this bit of news Blue Cross Blue Shield is by far the most likely prospect. It would be great to get them downtown. Now if we could get a couple more…
  • Work being done to the South Grand Ramp:
  • The basically completed MSP HQ:
  • From Shiawassee Bridge: From Museum Dr.
  • Troppo Construction from a distance:
  • With the size of their campus over there on Creyts 'm not surprised they decided to expand rather than move. If they would of moved way out in Dewitt that would of been very, very bad.
  • Someone over on UP posted a link to this site: Michigan Avenue to Grand River Avenue Transportation Study
  • They've had it running for couple of weeks now, you can see the steam in the morning.
