  • Yeah, I've noticed the chiller plant, it's a bit taller than I was expecting. I hope they make it look decent, it looks good in the rendering but it's sort of hard to tell. I do hope that Cooley could buy Knapp's, that may be the one realistic id…
  • The back-in parking was proposed for Museum Drive, I don't know exactly which one you mean by parking strip.

  • An article from today's LSJ, it doesn't say much worthwhile, but it does mention the expansion of the Law Library. Cooley helps shape Downtown Lansing's growth
  • Yeah, the driveway sacrifices about 3-4 parking spaces on Washington.
  • They ought to at least try it out, they could always just repaint the lines later.

  • I also have to work. I'm not sure what they mean, I thought they were going to continue the same streetscape improvements they put on the redone parts of Washington. I am happy with the improvements they have already done, and I'd like to see tho…

  • They didn't disclose anything at the council meeting?
  • Visitors Bureau moving to Stadium District I think this will be a good location for them, much more foot traffic and more visible. I didn't know they closed the one in Old Town to walk ins though.

  • One other problem with Knapp's windows is that they are very high up, hugging the ceiling. I do like the idea of a movie theater downtown, but I'm not sure it would be too feasible for Knapps.
  • Jared, I agree that this isn't the thread for arguing points or going off-topic, but I honestly don't think every thread MUST be about the Lansing area, or even development. I have no problem discussing more general topics like politics, the economy…
  • Just FYI Capital Gains has a number of stories worth reading this week. One thing in particular an official was quoted saying that he was hoping for something mixed-use for the Dollar site. Also, an event planner in Stadium District, some new job…
  • Saying we shouldn't depend on the auto industry is much different than saying we should reject it and lose what jobs we have left, and future ones. Like it or not, the auto industry will continue to important to Lansing and Michigan for a very long …
  • I'm surprised a Lincoln/Mercury dealership lasted that long.
  • I just though it was interesting to note that Clayton, at 16,00 people, has 39+ Fortune 500 companies. Wow!
  • It is very high tech. Niowave makes parts for particle accelerators, like FRIB. They are located in the old Walnut St Elementary.
  • The FRIB will certainly draw some companies. If I had to *guess* I'd say medical equipment companies and maybe some private research labs. Also Niowave will certainly benefit.
  • The battery cells will be built in Korea and assembled into whole batteries here. Also, if we capitalize on this industry we could be building batteries for all kinds of things, not just cars. I know it's not the most romantic business in the wor…
