The walls for the new hall are up sort of giving an idea of the entrance area. They have removed a lot of soil from the west side of the hill. I hope this is for some nice green space, I understand they are not going to replace the parking lot on that side of the Capitol so maybe it will be some sort of gathering point.
A new monument has been placed on Capitol Ave in front of the Capitol Building. It is a war memorial made of grey stone, it look nice in it's protonate spot. The grounds in front are looking very pretty this year as I appreciated the peaceful scene.
This is very nice to see. I noticed the new street lamps along the sidewalks are matching the street lamps on the front eastern side, they look really great, next I'm looking forward to seeing the trees planted. There are two large stairways leading up from the Walnut Street level that also look great. I like seeing that this project so far seems "nicer than it has to be" which is rare around here!
Heritage Hall is opening to tours and visitors on July 5th and will host a grand opening in September. The LSJ has a story on the opening and a few pictures of the interior, it looks to be shaping up nice:
This looks beautiful! It is nicer than I was expecting, with a lot of interesting features and displays to look at, I was thinking that it would be more like a lobby hall, I look forward to seeing it in person.
I drove by the Capitol to check out the new Heritage Hall entrance, it looks really nice. And it is located right next the famous door that the "R electors" tried to enter which was seen around the world! I was also impressed with the great lawn behind the Capitol that was a surface parking lot. It is now a beautiful green space. this may be old news for folks, but it was the first time I had been downtown in a while.
