  • I don't know, the last time CADL put up a millage for capitol improvements it failed. That was 2008 though and times are much different.
  • Cooley is finally listing their former library building:

I had heard that there were forces within the LEDC that lobbied for this building to become city hall, I'm very happy that didn't happen and I look forward what this site's future holds. I assume both buildings are in pretty good shape so I kind of expect to see them find a use essentially as is, although this is one of the only potential sites for a large development on Washington Sq so who knows what could come of it. Hopefully the parking lot at least gets developed sooner rather than later.
  • There's been fencing up around Eastern for a few days, it appears they're about to begin demolition.

In other disappointing news Norm Fasteners has pulled out of their project in Bath Twp:

  • Don't see any demolition permits filed, yet. But, yeah, it doesn't sound like they've at all been receptive to anything the advocates for the old school building have had to say, so I wouldn't be surprised if they are prepping for demolition.

I said it before, but I was always of the mind that this should have been rezoned "R-AR" - residential adaptive reuse - like every other school building in the city is when they switched over to the form-based code. It would have provided some level of protection. That this was rezoned "INST-2" - urban institutional - at the time tells me that Sparrow had already been planning demolition, otherwise, it doesn't make sense why this old school building would have been the exception.
